App Store Optimization

Hey all,

What is app store optimization. From last week my bestie made one app and he want that I optimize his app and take it up in app store. But I don't know where to start app optimization and which is best technique for it. So can you guys tell me how I do it better???

    App store optimization depends much much less on backlinks but much more on:

    - Total number of downloads
    - Number of ratings
    - Quality of ratings (how many stars)
    - Keywords (very important to find keywords with higher search term but low competition - extremely important for ASO)
    - Number of uninstalls

        I'll try to summarize it.

        Tasks you should take care of: Competitive analysis, market analysis, keyword & LSI research + implementation

        Main action: You optimize description, meta tags, title taglines, assets, call to actions and other related materials with profitable keywords. That's for in-store ASO. For off-store, you should get reviews and ratings for higher rankings.

        Basically, it's something similar to SEO. Google Play's search algorithm is like Google's. App description works like website description but to drive organic traffic from in-store search. For Windows Phone, you can take Bing-Yahoo's algorithm as an example. For Apple Store, I suggest you conduct a detailed research.

        Simple. Create an app that gets a lot of press and downloads....

        If you think apps are ranked by some SEO-type algo, you are sadly mistaken.
        Seems to be an epidemic in this thread.

          Apps/pages are indexed.

          I've also seen a couple of apps trailing self hosted sites in Google SERPs. I can't remember the keywords right now but they're out there.

          You say go viral. Great. It's every app publisher's dream, but does not happen very often especially if you're an indie with a very limited budget.

          Keywords (and keyword density) is one of the app store ranking factors, besides downloads, download velocity, uninstalls, frequency of interaction etc.

          In Google Play, more than 6 million unique phrases are being searched monthly. Even Google provides guidelines for ASO, telling devs that search queries is a major install source for apps and encouraging them to optimize their content.

          And according to Apple, by localizing app store description with optimized keywords publishers get 767% more downloads.

          So, why not make use of ASO and maximize your app's potential?

          P.S. I'm talking about app store searches. Web search is another beast for app marketing.

            Been moving into that space and I see nothing wrong with ranking an app in the search engine. True its not going to directly help you in the app store but all the exposure will
