Difficulties making adwords convert

Hi everyone, I run PLA's and they seem to convert for me. I also recently started running basic text adwords ads and I am having a very difficult time getting them to convert. The ads are running for brand landing pages on a ecommerce site selling plumbing products. The ads display things such as "shop goulds pumps" etc. I have adjusted bids, added negative keywords.. I just don't know what to do to make them convert. Any advice would be greatly appreciated.

    Try running the "Search Query Report" to see what type of keywords are generating traffic. Also, if the traffic is all relevant - then testing your landing page would be a good idea as landing page optimization makes a huge difference to ROI.

    May be too much broad match keywords are getting clicks on the campaign and hence you are not getting the desired conversions. To check this login to your Google Adwords account, select 'All time' in the date section.
    Now go to 'Keyword' section then click on 'Details' and then 'All' under search terms. This will show you all the keywords which people are actually searching and clicking on your ads. Check if you are getting more clicks from the broad match type keywords and if that is the case try to pause broad match keywords and add more phrase and exact match keywords in the campaign.

      There are number of possible causes for your lack of conversions. I will try to list the most common causes, in order of frequency, that I seen in client accounts over the years.
      1. Keyword Targeting Issues - Poorly selected keywords, that are either too ambiguous, or lack commercial intent, are a common cause of low conversion rates. These issues are often due to over reliance on the broad match keyword type, or keyword phrases that not specific enough. Improve your keywords for the Search Network.
      2. Ad Text Issues - Ad text that is misleading, lacks clarity, or is inconsistent with the most prominent value proposition found on the landing page. Create three to four ads for each ad group, and use different messages for each to see which does the best. Ad writing Tips
      3. Account Structure Issues - Account structures that are not granular enough to provided extremely relevant ad text, or the most relevant landing page will have a negative impact on the conversion rate, as well as the cost per acquisition. Organize your account for success.
      4. Landing Page Selection Issues - Failing to select the most appropriate landing page for each individual keyword will negatively effect conversion rates. Point customers to the right landing page.
      5. Landing Page Conversion Rate Optimization Issues - There is always room to improve effectiveness of landing pages. If you have not yet tested various landing page designs, headlines, value propositions, Call-to-Actions, etc. using best practices, as well as out-of-the-box ideas, then you could have poorly converting landing pages. Setup a rigorous marketing experimentation testing routine.
