Is it possible to display two domain names on one website and do it properly for seo purposes. We have our regular domain name, but want to rank for the other domain name with our website.

Thanks
Leah

    No you can not.

Will you respond to any other name if called? If what you asked was possible, any one with money would rank for apple - google - microsoft and any other website.

    Hi Leah,

Actually that is against good SEO practice. As much as possible keep one domain for one website or Google may treat your other site a mirror site and may not get ranked at all.

I am not sure why you want two domain names. But you may try to check out creating a subdomain instead.

    I hope that helps

Thanks that does help. We actually have our personal name as the main domain name. I was finally able (after years) to get the domain name that we want to rank for in a .org from Bluehost. Our personal name is now established in our industry and I thought we could put the one we want to rank for along with the main domain..

So now I have the niche domain name that we want to rank for , i.e. (www.BlueClawCrabs.org) but I already have a blog with the broader version of the niche (i.e. www.eCrabs.com) and am almost done optimizing it with long tailed keywords. What would you suggest I do with the niche domain name (www.BlueClawCrabs) to rank for it.

Thanks so much... Been trying to get the question answered for a while....

According to SEO protocols you cannot do this but you can use other domain with different design and different content.

You must not do it otherwise your website may get penalize. If your website has good ranking position for single or existing domain then why you need to use another domain for your website.

You can set another domain (more accurately subdomain) by setting the CNAME. e.g. your main site is "www . mainsite . com" and also want to access it using "www. anothersite . com" then you can achieve this by setting the CNAME record entry in DNS zone files.

Of course yu can. And the lot of these responses are so bogus,
it is little wonder that "SEO guru" gets a bad rep.

It's done many times. It's how the big sites run.
From wikipedia, to ebay. From amazon, to espn.com.

Google even uses it on youtu.be..., among gaggle of other things.

      Just type in gmail.com...

It's so laughable that people do not realize this.

And people here just lap this misinformation up like mad dogs...

      Here's an experiment.

      Do a search for ebaymotors.com
Okay, it's there. Indexed. Now click on it.

Then do a search for ebay motors...

      Blind leading the blind.

If you don't want to be one of the big boys, then don't do
      what the big boys do.

Since I strive to be one of the big boys online, I do some
serious research as to what they are doing...

Then we get to the mobile version of a website...

You don't think en.wikipedia.org is a different domain than wikipedia.org?

Can you note how such things would affect SEO? I have seen this situation many times on the net - once I saw many sites using the same content but the domain names were different.
