Hi,

I had put in a REQ with one of the worksites (like Elance.com) to fix a google result for a website so that it looks like the one for Microsoft (it has "Microsoft" but under it are subheadings like "Careers", "Downloads", "Support", etc.). I also wanted a "Rich Snippet".

I got lots of responses but most saying that they needed from 2 weeks to 2 months to put this in citing that they could do SEO to get me to the top of the search list for key words. Of course, one has to pay the hourly rate during this time. I reiterated that I did not want SEO but just wanted what was explained above.

I still got back that time was needed to make it happen. How can you know if they can make it happen at all? It seems to be a long time to pay money without seeing any result.

I did some research and found that a sitemap could be put in with sitemap.xml and that the Rich Snippet can be a plug-in for Wordpress. Given that is the case, I am not seeing why it takes so long to make things happen either - i.e. why 2 weeks - 2 months are needed.

Am I missing something here?

TIA

    Back away.

With a plug in, this is like a 2 hour job. If that.

If its Sitelinks in search results you are referring to then yes, it takes time because sitelinks are automated and determined by google algorithm.
Several factors come into play like optimize site structure, internal links, navigation links, backlinks to these pages, sitemap, structured data and based on users query algorithm determines sitelinks to be displayed.

From what I read in OP you're talking about Google Mega Sitelinks (screenshot below) which is more advanced SEO than typical SEO. You are in fact asking for SEO. Anything to do with Google SERPs is SEO.

If that's what your asking for (Google Mega Sitelinks) be prepared to have a large budget & a lot of waiting, it's not going to happen overnight.

Seems your site has a problem with
a "plugin denial error". Don't worry, I have a plugin that can fix that.

Plugins are "User Beware". Most are only tested to make sure they function, and are not coded by SEO professionals in general. Make sure you read the label, reviews etc...

Use this plugin on your site if you want to see how Panda works. :p:p:p

Thanks for the responses. When doing research, I found that it depends upon the "authority" of the site as to whether or not sitelinks pop up (same with the Rich Snippet) - unfortunately.

I had a website a few years ago on Database services. I had a video on YT on how to do installations - part 1 and put part 2 on my web server.

The thing is the web server had links just like the ones I was asking about above - I did nothing.

A colleague of mine started an accounting business and bought software from a place that just made websites for accountants. His site has the "sitelink" look above - not on every search but on the ones that mattered. I checked and saw that he had ~no backlinks~ whatsoever. The info he had was shared between other accountants with different domains (i.e. - 6000 accoutants with the *exact same content* ) the only thing that differed was the domain name and web installation.

It was because of these reasons why I thought it would have been "easy" to have some kind of sitelink look - but - based on what I have found, that is determined mostly by Google. And - from what I have seen, no major SEO undertaking was needed to make it happen.

Again - for myself- I did nothing at all. For the accountant, it happens on ~some~ searches but not all.

it takes to rank and get organic traffic, not a 24 hours job. If you are looking for targeted quick traffic I suggest going with FB targeted audience/traffic.
