Can You Still Make Money With Adsense ?

Its big heyday has come and gone, but there is still money to be made.

Think of it as an accoutrement. Like finding $20 on the ground.

There isn't a whole lot of maintenance once it's set up and you can earn a few $$ while you focus on more profitable ventures.

''serious money'' is a flexible expression - but you can still make money if you apply some basics - a good placement of ad blocks - having engaged visitors on your page - improving your bounce rate etc. - more info on my site about this.

Build Traffic
You're not going to make anything with AdSense if you don't have enough traffic. Please don't think this is some easy, get-rich-quick program. This takes work and it all starts with getting visitors.

Avoid Free Hosts
I know times are tough economically and a lot of you don't want to pay for a website. But the facts don't lie. Successful website owners invest money. Period.

The quick money in Adsense is gone. As it is with all things Google. Of course it's still possible to make money in Adsense. But you have to be willing to put in real work and invest, like mikemccalle says

That means a real site (Wordpress is fine if not perfect), that is of real value to a target niche. Real value implies real content that is updated and kept relevant in real time. If you're not prepared to do those things, then don't bother.

Consider that Adsense's minimum payout is $100 (at least for me). You may find it frustrating to watch your Adsense earnings accumulate but never payout.

If you do decide to play fast and loose with Google's rules, be prepared to get hammered hard. That means your account shut-down and any unpaid revenues forfeited. If Google changes it's Adsense rules tomorrow and you find that tomorrow you are in violation of their terms of service, any previous unpaid revenues and your account are still at risk retroactively.

Adsense today, at least as far as my experience is concerned, is a medium to long-term strategy.
