Hello Everyone,

I'm new to WF and I'm ask for help from anyone that could correct my approach to SEO? I've decided to be honest with myself and let everyone know that I don't know anything about current/modern day SEO. So here is what I'm guessing is a good approach with my websites(I only have 4 websites each with 4 to 5 pages)..

1. I've just moved my sites to a new platform(I moved them from homestead to squarespace) because squarespace seems to be more efficient/easy to use.

2. I will continue to focus on having good content, relevant page titles and good meta descriptions.

3. I've created a facebook page and google places page for each site but I don't have any comments or friends yet.

4. I was thinking about creating 30 to 40 social media accounts(omg that's going to take forever) and then using someone like Syndr to post relevant articles on daily basis to all 30-40 of them.

5. Try to build/connect with other people that are members of these social media sites.

6. Build relevant links to all of these social media sites so that my main site may get some sort of "ranking benefit" from google and other search engines.

So is this the type of approach I should be taking???

Any help is very much appreciated

First off, yes, absolutely modern day SEO basics exist. And here's the first, most basic rule of all. Do your keyword research. I don't know what you've got for keywords but you have to be realistic about ranking for any but the most lightly-searched, long-tailed keywords with small, non-authority sites (4 - 5 pages).

Secondly, your talking about basically trying to game Google. It may work, but the long-term prospects aren't good. I agree with strategic seo services. It's more work, but stable, long-term and effective.

    Good luck!

Yeap. Keywords are important, but ONLY active keywords, that are relevant to your niche. Everything else is waste of time, money and resources.

My advice is to look at off-page SEO as promo, rather than linkbuilding. This has always led to quality links for me. I try to place links in places where they will be seen, and clicked through to. This creates a backlink and generates real traffic as well.

Well, over all your master plan looks good to me, as you have said that you are creating profile on social media that sure is a good thing but the bad thing is not having any friends or followers I would say try to build audience otherwise there is no use of creating the social media, another thing I would like to add up here is I am get yourself active on the forums, yahoo answers etc. i.e. based on your niche this will help you in remaining active to the eyes of user and as well as they are good source of backlinks. Rest I would say is keep your eyes open to your niche and you are going to get rock. One more thing you can do is create a sub-domain i.e. abc.com/blog and start posting your good articles there and share that page over the social media network. Now creating a subdomain in your site will give the search engine fresh page to crawl and I think you know well that fresh content really matters. In this way you can will get good traffic as well as this is going to maximize the chances of getting ranked among the search engine.

1)Keywords are very important. Get those right.
2)I use Yoast's SEO plugin (free or paid), that will help you with getting on page SEO factors right. do not stop working on a post until you have a green light. I also like KW density at about 1.5%, which is a little low, but I have LSI everywhere on my posts. seriously consider all the advice it gives, it is pretty good.
3)Julia, from above is spot on with the links. but I also leave my URL on comments I make on blogs that are not related if they interest me. My blog is not in the legal niche, but I have a legal background so I comment on TechDirt all the time and leave links. A PA35 link from Techdirt that points to my blog is not as good as a PA20 that is related (or so they say).
4)I still build some links to any sort of account profile links. follow a few people on the site, make some comments and get a few people to link back to your profile, obviously link to it from your main site.(after awhile, if you do it right, they can pass a lot of authority)
5)because I like you. Make a profile on about.me. it is do follow and has good authority. tell everyone, using KW rich content, what your site does.
    5) most social media/bookmarking sites show no follow links when you look at them but a few have do follow profile links. do a search for do follow social media sites. sometimes the posts authors get it wrong but it is a good place to start your search, then check them for yourself. there are a few social sites with do follow on posts and in profiles, these are great. (make sure you spend your time making accounts that will have the most bang for your buck)
6)promote every post you create by submitting it to some social media/bookmarking site. do share other peoples stuff on you SM accounts at about 80% other peoples (camoflauge) and 20% yours.
    7) high PR is not a good indicator of a site value. get the RDS bar for Firefox and it will show you DA, PA, PR, TF, and CF and more. I worry about Authority far more than PR, I also like site with trust (some low PR sites out there with a lot of trust and authority and they arent' always in the first 10 results of a search. I always go 100 deep)
That is enough for now, that is a good solid foundation.

    Keyword research
Yoast SEO WP plugin (I don't think Yoast has a plugin for other platforms, but look if WP is not your thing)
    Social media
    links from niche related sites.

If you don't know what some of the things are that I talked about, copy and paste it into Google and search. for instance "RDS seo firefox bar" in a Google search will give you exactly what you need on 1st result. It won't always be the first result but you will be able to figure it out

find a way to track your keyword SERP (Cute, Firefox has an addon, I use Traffic Travis, Brad Callen has a great free on on this forum, but mine always stopped working) Brad's might be the best to start with - its free and i love it but it can just stop working.

    Later on:
sign up for accounts (use the free ones at first) with Majestic and Moz.
do not pay people on Fiverr or SEO Clerks to build links for you until you have built some of those links yourself. (some of those guys will sell you services that will hurt you. also, Fiverr is 98% crap, don't do anything there unless you really know what you are doing.
The best way to know is to have done the job yourself.

Here is a huge guide to link building: He knows his stuff. It is way too big to just read it, use it as reference.
    http:// .... backlinko.com/the-definitive-guide-to-link-building
I don't know if they remove URLs on this site so I added .... and spaces, remove them and the link will work.

    IMPORTANT:
If you are going to monetize your site, I strongly recommend you use paid hosting. You do not want to create redirects from all your homestead pages to hosting where you can advertise or sell (I don't know anything about Homestead or Squarespace, maybe you can monetize there. I may have spoken out of turn)

My view on modern SEO (i call it SEO 2.0):

On-site SEO (but do not overoptimize)
Improve you page speed (try for example Google page speed tool)
    Epic content
Keyword research (do not focus on a few keywords)
    Improve your content outreach
Be active on social media. Make your content easy shareable
Be very selective on link building (diversify your anchor text)
