There IS life besides Google. There's Bing!

and I just came across

This point really intrigued me:

1) Keyword rich domain names no longer boost SERPs rankings. While this is not big news, we note it because earlier this year, Bing's Senior Product Manager, Duane Forrester, came out and said so on Bing's webmaster blog.

2) Given the above, there is no longer a need to pay big bucks for the perfect domain name. Furthermore, when you buy a domain name you never know how it was used before. Your shiny, new domain could have a bad history. If you decide you must have that particular name, check the Wayback Machine to see what kind of content it had previously.

Speaking of official sources- the Bing blog is at

and the official Google blog is at

    Hi Barbling

I don't really concentrate on using Bing for my blog tarffic, but I know that I should do really. I just seem to think it's all about Google, which of course is nonesense!

Do you think that keyword domain names will boost rankings for our sites if the site also provides qulality unique content on a regular basis? I know thin sites wouldn't get any boost, but maybe it helps if you have both - Good content and keyword domain - Not sure though.

Anyway, thanks for the tips and links..

    regards

You have to delve a bit deeper though that just the Wayback Machine. You need to find out if the domain was previously banned from Google and if there's any toxic backlinks pointing to it, etc.

I have found that ranking for keywords works. Optimize your articles and rank for them, instead of concentrating on the domain name. A good domain name is very good, but you can coin a name that will work for you.

I stopped concentrating on optimizing keywords more than a year ago. I concentrated on the value and quality of content.
