Do Google de-index sites if they've been down long enough?

Hello Warriors,

As the title suggests:

Do Google de-index sites if they've been down long enough?

EG the domain holder let the domain lapse, the hosting ran out, and the site just went down for six months or so.

Or do they only de-index domains that they penalize?

Cheers!

Yes, they deindex sites with no content or that are otherwise inactive. Not all the time though...

If you bought a domain that had been de-indexed for being inactive for the purpose of building a private blog network, would it still carry weight?

EG, if you rebuilt the site, re-pinged the old links etc?

Or would Google consider it a completely new site?

Yes, Google deindex the site or domain which have been long down. The reason behind doing this is as there are a large number of websites and every new one is keep on adding every second. Think from the view of Google why to keep the site index if its down for a long time and has nothing useful for the users. As today there is just no use of the outdated information so, Google deindex the site that is down for a long time.

You can pretty much bet Google will deindex a site with a host that's been down for 6 months. Six months is a enough time for Google to try & reindex an entire site, even a large site.

Yes, they normally do. If the site is down and they're unable to gather any content from the site for a while, it will be removed.
