As you've probably hear Panda 4.0 is being rolled out.

Its really sad that Google has To resort to these scare tactics, as it is hurting innocent local businesses. Seriously its a battlefield out there and Google is literally tearing down local businesses while preserving well spun web 2.0 blogs.

For those of you who don't know Panda targets on site factors while penguin targets offsite factors.

Now Probably alot of you White hat Seo'ers were affected as that who always get hurt by these updates.

Don't worry its not your fault, you've been fed lies by the big seo gurus.

They claimed it was Penguin 3.0 and you believed it. Why wouldn't you, as these guys are well respected seo bloggers. The fact is though that most of the stuff they say they don't actually test, they just rehash what google says and sell it as their own.

If you want to rank in 2014 you need to take your own path. Look at the serps analyze them. Discover EXACTLY whats happening instead of relying on someone else's opinion.

In order to rank in 2014 you need 2 things.
1. Unique content. Most of you newbies don't know a thing about spinning so your stuck with writing unique content.
2. Backlinks. Quality+quantity will rank anything. The op would get mad if I mentioned any specific methods but all you need to do is look at the serps and you'll know what to do.(got threads deleted before for posting black hat techniques)

Look at the Serps. Analyse who's ranking for what and why. Learn it like the back of your hand. Google is just an algorithm, and every algorithm can be beat.

That's literally all you need to know in order to rank in 2014. Make it look as NATURAL as possible.

Final note for newbies trying to rank - Don't be afraid to test out new methods. That's the only way you will learn

All you Seo'ers id love to have your opinion about how your going to rank in 2014.

google's slogan of "do no evil" or whatever the f**k it used to be has changed to "inhibit and limit all organic SEO" and require everyone to pay for google services.

You can't even use the google keyword tool anymore without an adwords account and good luck getting any indication of keyword search results in analytics anymore...

google is slowly doing away with any hope for small operators to rank in their search and requiring social signals (can you say google + and other products) for any hope of showing up in their SERPs...

The time has arrived that you will either have to pay for adwords or bypass google's BS altogether and spend hours at sites like pinterest and linkedin and ....... creating "communities" around your brand.

If you're selling something, and google can tell you're selling something...they're determined to make you pay or jump through their hoops.

We've come a long way from the days you could keyword stuff your pages with text the same color as your background!

Just a hint...google doesn't rule everything (as much as they would like to)...you can still use some of the old techniques at youtube and hashtags still work almost anywhere else!

The trend is going local. If you have a language other than English, and your audience understands that, you have something of an edge there.

Exactly. Look at the SERPs and, more importantly, your competitors' backlinks. Use a tool such as SEO Spyglass or Backlinkwatch and examine your competitors' backlinks. See which sources offer dofollow links and on high PR pages, and go after those same backlink sources. See if you can get your backlinks placed there as well. After all, think about it, those are the backlink sources that have propelled your competitors sites to the top. So, if your site has good, unique content and is well-optimized, those backlink sources will help your site to make it to the top as well. This technique (reverse engineering a competitor's site) is very, very effective.

Readable engaging real people content. We are in such pain being "stuck" with writing unique content.

    sigh

Black hat techniques are not off limit here as far as I know. Illegal yes. Posts get deleted because they are spammy or really garbage because the mods know SEO. In other words the mods in this section are not newbies.

Why do people cry about this all the time? It's not hard to get an AdWords account. I have 6 of them. 2 of them have never run an ad and are used for nothing but the Keyword Planner.

Instead of bashing each other's opinion, maybe it's more fruitful if people form some sort of partnership. I don't know how this could be done without exchange of money or complete business ideas, as I am looking at trade of SEO services.

I read multiple times that even though SEO specialists claim their title and their methods publicly, targeting SEO results must involve making it look like you don't exist. If trade or exchange of services take place, it will be a like disrupting the pattern, making things as natural as they can be.

In one way, I believe this has been a principle of the creation of the Fightback Platform.

GREED is all this panda/penguin nonsense.

When a well developed legal or medical site with an EMD is now pushed off page one by Google for local serp's for NO REASON other than they want the professional to PAY FOR PPC, it's time to move on.

I show clients #1 major terms on 3 search engines, then I say oh Google, yeah we only manage ppc on them now, and we recommend you ignore them for that, since if you want more leads ppc on yahoo/bing etc is way cheaper and the IQ of the user is higher so better quality.

See what the organic does from being #1 on bing/yahoo it's 1/3 of search in USA and it's the best users.

If that's not enough biz for you, try ppc with bing/yahoo it's cheap.

If you insist on google, ok, we'll manage ppc and we guarantee 50% response off ppc on google for most professional terms.

Google hates HIGH RESPONSE CONTENT, they wiped off sites that stop searches now, so squeeze pages and such are now enough to get you moved off page one.

They still allow you to have high response content on ppc but even that is up in the air, since you often get rejects now on even buying ppc ads for high response content.

Google wants dummies, ppc ads by professionals that expect to see less than a 5% response ratio.

GREED is all G is about.

Their General Counsel has TWO FRAUD CONVICTIONS with the SEC and a CRIMINAL CONVICTION in Italy yet he's still on their executive board and ok with the SEC.

The SEC and Google are a joke, enough of googe rants today, my BP is boiling.

    LOL

Yeah OP, this is how it works pretty much for most of us.

For the newbies - you can use ahrefs.com in order to check the link profile of a website. However, beware that ahrefs (and other link checking) robots could be blocked with htaccess, so the links might not be 100% correct.

Reverse engineer what the big brands do, and do that.

At every step of the way from buying your domain to link building, think "what would i big brand do here?"

    Make a list.

Then, get to work on figuring out how to do that as cheaply as possible.
