How to beat the competition

Hi,

We will soon be launching a product and I have identified some different potential competitors. Not direct competitors, since our product is different, but still in the same market.

Regarding our web presence, do you know any tools and such so that I can best the potential competition? I'm thinking about which Adwords terms they bid on, what their website is optimized for, etc.
Are there any tools or methods that can help me with this in a manageable way?

Thanks.

Regards,
Thomas

Don't worry about what terms competitors may potentially be using. Build your own tightly focused keywords. Build your landing pages with your own unique selling proposition, something that makes people say "I need this!" and take out their credit card. Do the same for your ads. Pretty soon, your competitors will be the ones looking up at you, wondering how you do it. All you need is one tool: the one between your ears.

I totally agree because you need to fight with yourself first and need to break your own records
You will for sure going to compete with other competitors but initially you need to work hard for your own keywords.
      Thanks

    hi Thomas,

You won't find a tool to analyze your competition and tell you the mistakes they are doing. There are tools such Keyword Spy which tells you what your competitors are bidding on, the ad texts, etc but it will give you a HUGE file of keywords that you end up with filtering it.

The best way to do is manually. Sit down for a couple of hours, write in an excel file the results that are on Google Adwords then. If you can do this thing weekly for a month that would be awesome. At the end of the month, compare the 4 listing of sponsored results and analyze if it's the same. If you notice there's a particular site or sites on the top for all the period it seems that they are making money out of it (though even 1 month is a short period to do this!). Then analyze those sites and see how do they sell their products, what prices do they have, newsletter, etc. Try to find out what they are missing there and make that as your main benefits + what they are already giving.

    Hope this would help :-)

As far as I know, there is no tools for this, however If you can have a site with unique content with competive keywords, you can get more business. Having unique content is not enough you have to try to get some top ranks on search engines for those keywords, that will bring you more business. One of the best way to get top on search engines is submit unique articles to some aritcle directory submissions as well as to some blogs (blogger.com) - Once the links are cached, you will be able to see the fast turn around in your results...... Hope it helps you

Make sure you are having a quality and unique content with good ONSITE SEO. Try to link to ebay, Create an account there and put details there and place your link there. That will help you to rock. One of my friend had a similar experience, He was marketing some printer ribbons and he was on top #3 in google for a product called "Fargo color printer ribbon" due to his ONSITE SEO setup and with the help of his ebay account. He did not do any other kind of link building.
Try on that way too, there are high possibilities to get success in your case.
