Local Business at top of all keywords

One of my competitors is ranking #1 for many keywords & it has been this for awhile. I need to analyze what they are doing and try to take over that spot.

I will look to see if they have Google Authorship set-up
What citations they have
What backlinks they have

They do not have a Google Plus Local/Places Page

On a local level, what tools do you recommend that I utilize? What other things should I look at that I may have missed.

I will look at WhiteSpark & BrightLocal as well.

    Other than links & citations there's not much left besides on-page (internal links).

        I like SEOspyglass, it lets you import other link sources If needed (ahrefs, etc...). They have a trial version that shows around 1,000 links. Spyglass also shows dropped links, OBL (outbound links) count, sort by followed links.

          I ran SEOspyglass, found all the links, now just need to figure out how to get some of them other than doing it all manually myself.

    Just remember that building your site using your competitors model won't work.

    Years ago our competition copied our site but never got in top 1,000 so they
    made post in forum asking: 'how come their trick wouldn't work?'...
    well, Algo takes to consideration many factors and keywords only some part of it.

    ahrefs.com will you give all the backlink details of your competitiors.

    Don't copy what they.. As it will make no difference and you will still rank under them. try your own SEO strategies tools and services. You will at #1 pretty soon.

    Here's what you should do before anything:
    Out beat them in number of Quality backlinks
    Unique and Quality Content
    Schema tags and Keyword Positioning!

    I bet you will see jump in ranking!
