Links from profiles are useless for seo. Even if the website has PR10, your profile page will always have PR0. And the profile links could have a no follow too. Google doesn't give weight to profile links, forum links and all. Instead why not write helpful articles or create infographics and sliders and ask website owners to post them on their site in return for a link back? That way you are creating a win-win-win situation. The website owner's readers get a nice post, the owner gets content and you get a link back.

I think it is a waste of time though for seo. Though it could be useful for things like building awareness, gaining traffic from those links, etc. It could also be useful if somebody finds your website through those links, likes your website and actually put a dofollow link to your website on their own website.
