MY first offline client has this site:

LINK REMOVED

Banned. Why? - Highlight the text and look at the keyword spam

Can anyone give me 5 steps to take to get him back onto Big G?

Thanks a million!

I'm showing it as being indexed: Google - site:plumb4u.co.uk

It could have better onpage SEO though.

View the text of the page and you'll see that the construction of the HTML is nothing but the same text repeated over and over again. I'm almost certain this is the cause of the penalty. The page seems to only have the text once when you view it, but the source shows it repeated so much it has to look like keyword stuffing to the search engines. Redesign the page to have his keywords embedded into some normal text with appropriate page titles, page descriptions, and H1 tags. Then wait until the page gets cached by Google. If your ranking doesn't improve then file a reconsideration request with Google telling them that you redesigned the site because it looked like keyword stuffing.

I am sure, If you get your site to get index again by google, you will get back to your current position. Me too have a same kind of incident, I was on #2 and I have got virus on my server and google had dropped me to 2nd/3rd page, after that I had changed my server, still I was on 2nd/3rd page because, I did not get indexed, So, I had done 20 blog comments to get index by google fast, Within 2 days, I have got cached and I was back to #2 again....

Try to continue posting in forums, do high PR blog posting, submit article to article directories, etc, in no long distance your site 'll back to where it originally belong to.

Doing link building with high PR sites and that too a no bad neighborhood links, with most relevant and if possible try to get links in old domains. Doing On page activity with the appropriate sense and let the content be once and not repeating at all.
Do forum participation with high pr pages and commenting on blogs.
Do a tons of social bookmarking and join social networking.

All the above will help you a lot.
