What would you charge for a low competition keyword to rank at G 1?

I mean guaranteed ranking to page 1 .

What do you say about $500 p/mont , max raning period 3-4 months.

is this a fair package?

It's not possible to guarantee #1 placement. Unless you mean something like "or money back", but you're taking a huge risk there... Depends on competition, keyword, and the site you're trying to promote.

$500 isn't that much money if there's paying clients searching for the keyword.

Links in signature will not help your SEO. Not on this site, and not on any other forum.
Who told me this? An ex Google web spam engineer.

    What's your excuse?

you shouldn't decide your charge only based on the traffic this keyword has, but how profitable it is, and how high is the EPC.

That depends on why the customer is trying to rank for that keyword. For example, we have resellers who use our SEO services as part of their reputation management packages to simply outrank negative reviews with positive ones.

There are two things to consider here:

How low is the competition AND where the site which you will be doing SEO on is currently at.

The latter is important because there are A LOT of sites which have a lot of problems on-site and the problems could require you to do heavy lifting on the edits and stuff.

I dont think $500 is worth it for a low competition phrase. The customer would have to make $500 a month just to break even. It would depend on the site of course, but I dont feel a low competition word is going to do that. Not to mention your goal is not to break even, it is to make profits.

As a few people have said above I would steer clear of guaranteeing #1 for certain keywords and focus more on guaranteeing increased traffic and rankings across a broad spread of keywords. I would tend to charge this out on an hourly rate depending on the competition in the niche.

I am a bit concerned when you say 'max 3-4 months' - does this mean you will be using techniques that will see the site penalised after this time?
