Hater Talking Bad about a Company

Hey,

A client of mine told me that there's a hater talking about his company and is ranked #2 in Google.

He wants to bring it down the rankings / take it down. Is there a way?

What would you do? I've never encountered someone hating on my product / site and was ranked on the first page based on my keywords..

    Well it really depends were it is posted etc...
    Is there a chance the person would remove it voluntarily if approached properly? Would the site remove it?

    If not and it is something like theripoffreport etc.. then good luck. Best you can do is dilute the negative by spreading the positive.

      It might work, or you might make it harder to outrank... or even worse... push it to #1.

      Negative SEO is too unpredictable to play around with like that.

      If it is on a strong domain, like ripoffreport.com, the negative SEO thing definitely won't work.

        Exactly.

        We've had people signup for our reputation management packages that had done so much negative SEO on ripoffreport articles that we just refunded their money and told them we weren't interested because it would have simply been too much work and hassle.

    Your best bet would be to try to outrank it with your own stuff (ie Web 2.0s, FB pages etc) that contained good reviews.

    You could try to negative SEO it, but that might take longer to take effect. If it's just a brand name, usually moving stuff above it will be easier than trying to negative SEO it.

    Depends on what's ranking in that position. If it's a rip off report you've got a long term SEO campaign to get that stuff pushed down.

    The key is to get stuff pushed above the negative listing so that it falls. The best bet is to try and patch things over with that review and get it completely removed. If not, start a positive SEO campaign.

    First thing I would do is use 100's of website evaluation sites where your own domain/URL is in the page titles.

    That will get you a bunch of lower tier fluff in the SERPs, plus there's tools out there that will automate. It's not really spam because that's what those evaluation sites want (a bunch of domain URLs/pages).

    Basically rank all your own pages & junk up anything below your own ranked pages two or three pages deep on the SERPs.

    Bottom line is, put your own domain/URL in the page title of the all the fluff pages.

    Load the SERPs up & let it sit for a week or two, wait for everything to settle down, then repeat with stronger pages as needed to own the 1st page of the SERPs. It might not take much to bump the negative page down.
