Google 1st page with no content?!

I started a new niche site, and I found one web2.0 site with almost no content at all!
I search the following using the keyword : "H miracle review", and I found this website: hxxp://hmiracle.webs.com ( Is not mine! )

I was impressed, cause I wrote more than 5 original unique articles, but only sitting around page 7 of google. I even have the site scanned, where only 11 do follow backlinks that help this site to appear at the first page.

If I clone the site, will I be on the first page of google also?

Pretty much they have backlinks and you don't. Content alone will NEVER rank your site for any significant keyword.

Hi. This site is not so bad. The domain name is GOOD for this keyword. Also the TITLE is the same keyword. It has no content, but some good backlinks... I am not impressed he managed to be on 1st page...

Dig deeper into the links and you'll see the high PRs and strong backlink profiles. Also, take a look at those 2 redirects.

If you put up a page, copy his content, copy all his settings then you'll not even land inside top 50. Off-page SEO is his bread and butter and Google should be ashamed for allowing this to rank despite their PAnda 4.0s and Penguines and whatever else update they can come up with.

Keyword is very important in this case . Some keyword is not so valuable that they don't face strong competition and earn top page of Google .

Would you guys consider having the keyword in the domain name as well as the content, over-optimization?

      Nope.

1.) EMD have been lessened in value by Google therefore the domain name is equal to a brand name.

2.) Using "H-Miracle review" in H1 and in meta title is a good indication that it's aiming to rank on that keyword. I didn't see it repeated in the content either.

The web 2.0 page is ranking because it's backed up with good backlinks + the competition is relatively low. Even with less on-site content, it will rank. Yes, content matters but backlinks matters more.

Not having an EMD is often a safer bet, it can hold more when you go a little aggresive with anchors / internal links.

On a side note, I think Google is also giving big credits to branded links and branded anchor texts.

          Your thoughts on this guys?...

I have seen EMDs rank in top 10 and dance between #5 to #18 position without any SINGLE backlink at all, all because of being an EMD and good on-page seo. IN FACT, i am looking at this keyword right now that is being spammed to death by idiots while an EMD is sittting at #5 position with just 2 weak backlinks, that sound like their value is lessened ? This is for a medium competition keyword.
90% including you? why claim i don't know anything when you already concluded that yourself. ~_~`

That site you linked to is really lousy! And, though he's ranking so high for the keywords you want, do you really believe that person is earning money from that site? People will click through to his site and see absolutely nothing of value and then click back quickly to go to a site that isn't just trying to spam them with a for sale sign. It's not enough that you get ranking in Google, your content has to be good enough to make people stick around to make a purchase, either on your site or on the site you are linking to from your affiliate blog.

Not Only Content but Backlinks is very much important to increase a rank but main thing is quality, that does not matter if you create a more and more links, the imp thing is how much quality of your link is if its few still you can get a good rank so, with content just go with only quality backlinks no need for bulk backlinks

It's not that powerful a domain, you can beat it if you do a little bit of work!

I'd be more impressed if there were decent links in ahrefs but it's mostly spam.

Personally, I have ranked pages with just their title, h1, an embed youtube video and 2 sentence of content and 0 links.

When its time to increase their rank, I add more content to the pages.

All this is done with no link building.

BUT of course when it comes to hard keywords then links is a must.

Rankings mean nothing without conversions. I doubt this page is converting because I would just hit the back button and search for a more comprehensive review. That's just me.

Backlinks are easy to get. Just get some High PR domains and build a blog network. Or go to fiverr and get a decent gig from Crokservice. Or build some social bookmarking links manually.

What you want is rankings + conversions. Also throw some email marketing in to increase ROI.
