Connecting 2 sub-domains together

Hello,

I read that it is best to use a folder over a sub-domain. For example:
http://mydomain.com/blog is supposed to be better than blog.mydomain.com

for SEO purposes.

I have 2 sub-domains. main.mydomain.com and blog.mydomain.com. With the blogs, there is more in the way of opportunity to get ranked than with main.mydomain.com.

How can I transfer any "link juice" or influence from blog.mydomain.com to main.mydomain.com? Should I just create blogs on blog.mydomain.com that have "backlinks" to pages on "main.mydomain.com"?

TIA
