AdWords Ad "Under Review" How Long?

AdWords doesn't like a word I want to use in a couple of my ads, and they have placed the ads "Under Review." No big deal, this once happened before with a campaign I was running for a client.

It's been a MONTH today! Under review for a month?

How long does this ad under review status tend to take. I thought last time was long, but it was only 7 days or so.

Anyone else seeing anything like this?

Yep, had it happen to me too. At first it took a couple of days, but later I added more ad groups (with the same word) they are still under review 2 weeks later. I've kind of given up on them to tell you the truth!

      Hi Ted,

I would try to contact Google if I were you, every time I was contacting them they were answering very fast like max 48h with a good solution.

1 month is defenetly a lot of time and there's something in the middle.

They are making mistakes from time to time like disapprove ads that are ok - via email they have admitted they did a mistake and approved the ads.

So if your keyword is imortant, defo contact them :-)

1 month is bollocks. Call them up. If any of my campaigns go under review I contact them immediately and they usually have it going again within a few hours.

      Is it a new account?

Once appened to me that they have placed some ads "Under Review." for one word, after 3 days the ads were up and running, then I added a new campaign with the same word, but have been Under review untill I wrote them. Perhaps it's a bug and once they check a word for an account they don't check the same word for the same account again. Anyway one month is far too much.

Thanks for all the responses. Account is at least a couple of years old, and I've pumped a few $1000 through it.

Just contacted support - I'll report back when (if?) I hear back from Big Brother.

OK, a little after a month of "in review" I complained via AdWords support.

Two business days later, my ads are live with a silly little note from Google saying sometimes your ads will be under review briefly.

    Methinks they forgot me.

Sorry to hear that. Yes, it also happened to me but I am always emailing them. The thing that I really hate is I try to ask specific questions at times and the agent answers it in generic terms and still leaves me saying, what? Then it takes up to 48 hours for another response at times to ask the question and get another answer again.

Glad to hear you got everything sorted out!

I've been having a similar problem; however my ads have only been 'under review' for about three days.

How much were you bidding? I have found that low bids sometimes get stuck in review.

I have only experienced this with image ads. It took over a month to get them approved.

I have some low bid image ads waiting for review.

Do you think it would work to raise the bid to get a faster review and then lower them to where you want it to be?

How do you exactly contact Google's support? I am new to this and I don't seem to find a Contact link in my Adwords account. I am also over one month with my ads 'under review'.

Once in a while, you get lost in the cracks. Like Ted said, they forget about you. Times will vary for ads being reviewed depending on the volume which of course changes all the time. Google doesn't work weekends so submitting ads late on a Friday or weekend which needs review, it won't be seen until Monday at the earliest, and probably later than that.

If it's been 5 business days, send them an email (using contact forms from your account, look under Help). I've had to do this before and ads get "unstuck" usually within 24 hours. Note that this is rare and I haven't had to do this in months.

Raising bids doesn't do anything. Recreating the ad simply puts you back at the end of the line. Contact them if it's been a week. Note that image ads usually take longer than text.
