Hi.
I have decided to build my first site exactly as I learned from all the amazon tutorials.
1. I searched for a key word without hard competition.
2. My keyword is about people who is trying to buy something.
3. it has almost 6,000 searches in a month.
4. I bought exact match domain name.
5. I put a unique content.
6. I picked up a subject that is very interesting for me.
7. My theme is SEO friendly.
8. My theme has mobile support.
9. I have webmaster tools with sitemap xml submitted.

I started in page 2 on google on the first day that I launched the site. I was very happy and I thought, I have nailed it!!!
And from that moment I am consistently going down, now I am in page 7.

It is my fault for now that I dont have too many backlinks, only 5.

Can anyone tell me what is wrong in my process?
Can you maybe tell me what is wrong with my site?

remove all the "_"
My main keyword is the domain name

Thank you.

  • You're a new site and just going through the Google dance, give it a few months and just carry on producing unique content and high quality back links, it will settle down soon

Because you're missing backlinks, simple as that. And i don't think the keyword is that easy, there are some very high profile websites on page 1 and 2, its going to be tough.

You have an EMD so you have an advantage there. Start building content daily so google knows your site is active and focused around banksy arts. Then try to grab a high PR link, you don't tons of backlinks just a few good quality backlinks will do. You can even buy a PBN and that will definitely help you get up in rankings but you have to really look for some good ones.

Something you can do for free now is build a few social profiles on fb/twitter/youtube etc and link to your site. Then try to grab backlinks, i suggest reading backlinko's blog on how to get backlinks. He has some good advice on grabbing high quality backlinks.

Start using only white hat SEO and in time your website will move in Google's first page. It might take even 6, 9 or more than 12 months to crush your competitors...

Also, stay away by any SEO software...

    Hi avif,

Based on your post I believe you are going down the wrong path. Your strategy did not even mention the most essential ingredient needed for a successful content marketing campaign.

By the way, your marketing plan isn't truly SEO, it is more technically accurate to call it what is is, which is content marketing, and SEO is, "hopefully" a technique applied to that content.

Your only mention of "content" is in number 5 "I put a unique content." What does that even mean? Uniqueness isn't a ranking factor.

Search engines want to rank content that is both useful and needed. First and foremost it must be relevant, secondly it ranks better if it is useful, and finally it ranks even higher if the essence of that content is needed. Content that is not unique is content that isn't really needed, since it is already available on the web, right?

Many people think that by simply rearranging words and sentences, or replacing words with synonyms is all it takes to make unique content, and they are wrong. Regurgitated information that already exists in abundance on the web isn't really unique content in the truest sense that is meant when Google and others use that expression.

So ask yourself, is my content truly needed, useful and relevant? If it already exists in some form or fashion on the web then it isn't truly unique, nor needed, and it isn't going to be easy to rank.

As others have mentioned, your site is not going to get too far without decent back links. Your competitors are relatively strong, so it will take quite a bit of effort to break into the top 5.

Also, one thing you should keep in mind with keyword research is the trend.

    If you look at:

    https://www.google.com/trends/explor...t%20for%20sale

you'll see that there was a big peak in Oct 2013 and then it drops right back down to the background levels. A big peak like that can skew the search volumes.

It's going to be a tough battle. As dburk pointed out "uniqueness" isn't a ranking factor. Everything you hope to rank for is more or less covered by a more authoritative site. If the search phrase is "Banksy + [art piece name]" it's very likely that a dozen news sites are going to pass you in results. It might be even worse for your main keyword because of the controversy surrounding some art auctions featuring Banksy's works.

I'd just keep experimenting, especially with long tail keywords. If you can, try to find different ways to say that you sell Banksy-related products.
    Signature
Links in signature will not help your SEO. Not on this site, and not on any other forum.
Who told me this? An ex Google web spam engineer.

    What's your excuse?

Technically what you are doing is correct. But creating only one unique content is not enough. Your site is going through what is called Google Dance.

Create few more quality content, slow and strategic link building every week that looks natural (of course, the links must come from relevant sites only), and give your content some social media juice.

Also, check the click-thoughs your site is getting and if the visitors coming to your site are leaving, means if you are getting a 100% bounce rate. Google generally tends to lower a site's ranking if a visitor leaves a site after visiting the first page only. And if a visitor moves to your other pages too, Google understands that the visitors are finding your site's content relevant to the typed query and hence places more importance to your site, making it rank up.

So, check your site's bounce rate as well along with content creation and link building.
