For EU citizens only, you must fill in the form of Google at URL: https://support.google.com/legal/con...ebsearch&hl=en

I am not familiar with the US laws.

No. That is for the new "Right to be Forgotten" Law. Something that just happened a little over a year ago, is not going to qualify.

Also, if I am not mistaken, it only pertains to searches involving people, not a business.

I would not try negative SEO on those listings. It is too unpredictable. You might actually strengthen their rankings. You are better off ranking other properties that belong to the institution above them to push their position down. Rank a Facebook page, YouTube video, Twitter profile, Tumblr blog, etc.

Since there is a specific person who is involved, he/she might want to have his/her name removed. I think the best way would be to ask a lawyer.

No. He is talking about the search for the pre school. When people search for that, this news story pops up.

Either way, that law is not going to help. It just happened 18 months ago.

On top of that, it ONLY applies to Europe. You have no idea if this situation is in Europe, Asia, Africa, or Timbuktu.

There should be some protection. The police or the lawyers in his country should have more information than us in this forum.

There doesn't need to be protection. It's a real story. Nothing made up. It's just like any other news story.

If it was untrue or made up, that might be a different situation. This actually happened. There is nothing illegal about it showing up in search results.

Of course that was true, but you can't have one unfortunate incident and then pay for it for the rest of your life. Even prisoners should be given a second chance upon exiting the prison.

Sure, but it also doesn't mean that everything in your background should just disappear.

In this case, let's say this is a private school you are thinking about sending one of your children to. You do some research about the school, and this story pops up. Wouldn't you want to know about it? It would definitely impact my decision whether or not to send my children there, especially if I can find other stories that identify this as a trend versus a one-time screw up.

That way most of the businesses would be destroyed. The authorities should be responsible for imposing the penalties, for keeping the records of your penalties for disclosing them only when they think appropriate. If someone pays for something bad he did, then he should be able to move on and be given a fair chance. If this happens again, then the authorities could decide closing down this business.

It currently is that way, and most businesses are not destroyed.

The law should not be involved in a situation like this. It's a news story about negligence. That's it. If you do not want stories like this about your business to show up in a search result, don't be negligent or hire a good PR firm.

In Greece we have protection of personal data. Even newspapers are not allowed to disclose the names of the businesses or people who are penalized. It is the job of the authorities to keep these data and give them to the public when they believe that by doing so they protect the community.

Great. I don't want governments making those kind of decisions. Free flow of information is a much better decision.

That's even worse. The decision is left in the hands of one person. And how do they know when someone is searching for such information that should be handed over to them? There is no way they would 100% of the time.

On top of that, one person can easily be corrupted or bought off.

This is not just one person's decision, but the court's decision consisting of many people. It's not like America.

Either way, information like in the example at the beginning of this thread should not be restricted by anyone.

Somewhat sad that what many people consider to be the birthplace of democracy would have rules and laws like that in place.

Democracy also means being protected and not be given to the public for food. We all trust the decision of our courts and judges. This is one of the few things we still trust.

They are not being fed to the public for food. They did something wrong, horribly wrong. People deserve to know about that.

And this is not something that happened 10 years ago still haunting them. It just happened last year.

Listen buddy you are discussing politics that have nothing to do with how Google works in your country, and nor should it.

You need to consult with a reputation management company that can help you fix the results. That's they only way.

First of all your from India, not the US.

Second, a normal business owner has never heard of or cares about Alexa. Even a real SEO doesn't care about Alexa.

Third, whoever your client is deserves negative publicity for employing someone reckless enough to leave a preschool child alone outside during winter.

Good for the local news warning parents to stay away.

It may be far easier and cheaper to just shut down that domain and get a new one. Trying to push search results down the page can take forever and may never work.

I do not understand how links from news sites would be harmful to your search engine results or Alexa rankings. If anything, they should improve.

Try going back to that Local News website that covered the story and offer them an interesting update to cover. Tell them how that the teacher was suspended and other ways that your school has taken action to improve and safeguard the schools and educational system in your community. If you make it interesting, news-worthy and "community-centered" enough, they just might do a follow-up story that trumps the bad press you're getting now.

I don't care what political ideologies you have or what arguments anyone makes in this thread. If you leave a child of preshcool age outside and you run an operation where no one even notices then it deserves to stay on the frontpage for years. As a Dad I want to know the one thing a service will do is protect my children from predators. That kid could have turned up dead. Thats not Oops an innocent mistake.

Worse the problem seems to have not been corrected. Firing the "servant" was not the only issue there. Its that no one else noticed either. Get some motion detectors and/or some outside cameras Or Institute a policy that two "servants" have to be outside at all times when any child is outside to check no one is left behind. In fact do all three.

For all those reasons no court or law is going to remove the sites covering the story from ranking. Mike is right.

My suggestions to the OP - stop trying to hide you or your clients' screw up, highlight all you have done to make that child care the safest one in the area now (provided you have because firing the employee does nothing of the sort) and make it a selling point.

Politics aside, here is what you need to do.

Since the time of that article there has no doubt been significant changes in the policies and procedures at the business (at least I hope there has). So you need to start a Press Release campaign for reputation management purposes.

Highlight the positive of the business using the same keywords where your old story is at. Look at community activities that the business is taking part in etc. Build several positive stories around the staff and clients.

Then when those get stories get picked up in the news outlets find the top ten sites where the domain authority and page authority are the highest and start a link building campaign. These sites rank very quickly and it shouldn't take too much work.

Google is publishing the old news because you have not fed the beast with new news.

    Hope that helps

    Regards,
    C
