private blog network - am i doing it right ?

I am building my own network of sites for ranking my money site, it already does well however i have to work on grabbing links from other sites which can be pretty annoying.

So my idea is to buy a few domains (new from different registrars), buy a few shared hosting accounts from different companies for each domains and build these sites around different topics in my niche using blogs/forums as software.

Instead of creating some low quality crappy sites, i plan to rank the sites in the network themselves for some keywords so they are authoritative sites by themselves.

Questions i have are

1. How do i make sure google never finds out. I have decided to NOT use Google analytics/WMT, in fact access these sites in a Virtualmachine itself because i am paranoid like that.

2. Should i build them all centered around my niche or make some them general/other niches for diversity ?. I want to make them all relevant to my niche so the links would be considered from relevant sites to my money site.

3. For TLDs, should i go for all coms or throw in a few net/orgs too.

This is obviously just going to be for my own use and very small network of just a few sites. I have never done anything like this so any tips would be greatly appreciated..

    Good idea.

There is no way to ensure that. On the other hand, if you are doing what you said above and making good quality sites that could stand alone, who cares if Google does find out?

Entirely up to you. You could do one or the other, or you could do both. Really doesn't matter.

    Again, doesn't really matter.

I think affiliated websites do not give you so much boost. I would focus on creating one special website, and then people will appreciate your work and refer to you by giving you backlinks. It takes time and effort, but it certainly pays off in the end.

You might think that, but you would be completely and totally wrong.

Can you give me an example to justify your statement please?

Sure. Microsoft. They own tons of stand alone websites that all interlink together.

I said in first line of my post

I think after running my special site for a decade now that i can tell you that this "then people will appreciate your work and refer to you by giving you backlinks" is just a load of bollocks that google likes to tell people. If you have a niche that is so appreciative, thats cool alright but this forum wouldn't even exist in the first place if people appreciated your work and gave you backlinks, heck some may want to really but they aren't running a high authority website unfortunately or any website at all.

Tell exactly what you told me to Mr Jacob A. Stein who is residing at page #10 for "lawyers in dc" term that if he spends another 20 years helping people, he will start getting backlinks and will make it to first page, or Mike Rushson on page 20 that if he lives another 40 years (very unlikely from his age) he will make it, it will take time but hey it will pay off, amirite ?. I could go on but i think you got the point.

Please refrain from posting in my thread, you are not helping at all by insulting my intelligence and i didn't ask for how to get backlinks. Thank you

      3. I like to vary it up as much as possible.

We're actually making some training videos on exactly how to set it up now to best protect it and get the most bang for your buck because there are some parts that can be tricky.
I have noticed that too, in fact i have noticed some keywords rank really well for links from sites unrelated to my niche. I think it shows diversity and kind of authority because an authoritative site get links from different types of sites.

Wouldn't mind if you send me the links to those videos In a PM perhaps.

There are plenty of smaller and smaller scale examples if you just look around in the SERPs.

Research this SERP some day and related keywords.

You'll find lots of private networks at work there.

    1. There's no way to ensure 100% protection unless you turn these all into authority sites - but it likely won't be worth your time/investment to do that. Although I wouldn't worry too much as long as you aren't selling/trading links. If it's for yourself, your network is probably very small that it wont matter.

    2. Relevancy is better, but I have links coming from general sites and they're working extremely well.

    3. I like to vary it up as much as possible.
