How to deal with trackback spam?

Some of my websites often get trackback spam, and even though I never approve them but simply mark them all as spam, is there any other way to stop trackback spam? Really annoying.

Will Google know that all these are junk and spam links that have nothing to do with the owner of the site?

Turn Off trackbacks on your Admin. pages and/or delete the trackback source code.

Are you sure they are spam ?. Anyway, it is easy to remove them, just disable the trackback option and they are a goner

I have switched off TrackBacks since many months ago, but I still get notifications in WordPress admin, about the incoming trackbacks, and they still end up in the Pending Comments list.

I am kinda afraid these spam links can damage my site in Google.

If they were turned off you wouldn't be seeing them.

I also had the same issue. Trackbacks can't be stopped by disabling the feature from admin interface. Install "Simple Trackback Disabler" plugin. It will do the job.
