Parked Domains or PBN?

I am convinced that building Private Blog Networks and taking care of these websites are bringing the most value for money and efforts, for the longest time possible.

I am just not sure why I see some people advocating domain parking as part of an effective SEO strategy. I have not tested this route, so I will appreciate those with experience who may be able to clarify if I missed something really important about parked domains.. no need for specifics, I just need some clarification.

No comprende. Who says this? Technically speaking a parked domain doesn't allow you to add any links

Hello, Mike.. I was hoping against hopes that * you * will be one of the first few ones to notice this.

I have not seen posts anywhere here on the forum, but some of my clients who have heavy knowledge in web development claim this. I argue, because I want data, but I was "recommended" to do further research.

Who in their right mind will advocate this? and even worst who will believe it?

The "concept" or "hunch" is connected to the redirection of the parked domain towards the real / live / main website. It seems like 301 redirect, but that method is also flawed in a major way.

That is not a parked domain, that is a 301 redirection and it is not such a bad idea if the backlinks and anchor text of the domain you are making the 301 is absolutely related to the website you are re directing it, otherwise you will rank for unrelated keywords.

    There is a technical difference..

-- a parked domain "calls" or "displays the content" of whichever page / URL is assigned to it; the URL in the address bar does not change
-- a 301 redirect is a sort of command that automatically brings the visitor to the URL pointed to; the URL in the address bar changes

.. and correct me, please, if I am wrong, but that's how I understand these in the simplest ways.

Ah I get you now. Pat is right though. traditionally when you talk of a parked domain it means the domains is parked at the registrar. No web hosting - just shows the parked page from the registrar.

redirects are fine but to be honest I am not that big into them. setting up a site as a PBN gives you anchor text control - a redirect doesn't so unless you have a domain pretty much matching with links matching your niche then sure you are increasing PR but you are not getting the benefit of anchor text relatedness.

That and if you have more than one site the domain can only help you with one where with a site you can link to more than one site.

Well, I don't know if it's a fad inherited from other "strategists" before me. I just want some data, even one case study about this strategy if it is really a main factor for ranking, but the reply to me is always "go ahead and study more about it" or anything along that line.

As an update, I told our web development team that I want to use, to convert into full-blown mini-websites, all those "domain-names parked to servers with websites" --- that's how they call them.
