Serious Question: In what Serps are "Tools" still working for ranking? If None then why use them?

This as the title suggests is a serious SEO question NOT a rant. Since I still see some people using link building tools (less and less each month) I am thinking they must still be doing something in very weak serps. (plus WSOs are still selling those kinds of links)

So is the use of these churn and burn only? and can anyone produce a serp that actually shows automatic linkbuilding tools working? (Obviously not their own sites but a general serps where someone can see them working)

Because all most everyone I know in SEO now is using PBNs and bought links and the ONLY time I am encountering these kind of links now from my SEO customers is trying to help them recover from getting those links

Definitely would not use them anymore (because in any serp they work they are disaster waiting to happen) but just curious because I personally know no SEO using anything but webmaster outreach, Buying links or Private blog networks

Mike, I think your observation is pretty spot on but I'm sure there will be some people who will say they are using link building software and dispute what you're saying.

I've never really used any tools like scrapebox, etc. etc. but I've read a lot of people say that it's not the tool but how it's used and applied. I can't really dispute that statement as I've never used those tool but it does make sense of sorts.

The reality is that even though people are using PBN's any link building and by any I mean ANY which even includes outreaches are attempts to manipulate search results.

Even PBN's get hit no matter what the owner of the network does. It's always just a matter of time.

      Hey Rus,

I've had threads where I "ranted" that but this really is not about that. I really would like to know I guess primarily because I see what is still selling in WSOs and "Warriors for hire" with hundreds of replies of customers. To be honest I have a family member who might be interested in doing just that if in good conscious it works in any serp (none that I am engaged in as an SEO)

Sorry Russ but that's not really reality. It maybe what google wants to scare people with but outreach is standard white hat SEO these days and TON loads of sites are ranking that way as mainstream SEO.

As for PBNs - Truly private ones are not getting dinged. I won't give out names because that would be uncool but there are regulars in this forum that have had them for years and only the people who mass link rent them out report getting dinged.

There are even very discreet services that do rent links that have been under the radar for years

Plus I've taught a few hundred people how to build them and they are not reporting getting hit. Last I asked on my forums - no one reported any being hit.

Just saying - People have to use something, build it and they will come is not a business strategy. Maybe people are afraid of everything and that's why they till try out the link blasts - at least they are cheaper.

Does Google notice PBN's if they're connected via G+ profile or WMT's?

Theres no good reason to link a network together with G+ and the only reason to put them in WMT is if they are money sites

But the answer is yes that could be used as evidence of a blog network since Google operates both

Most of the pros still using "tools" use them for feeder-type pages like social media or videos.

I would say that's because your SEO customers are inexperienced with the tools.

Sadly people will see a tool, falsely believe it's the answer to their dreams (Without paying an SEO guy too) and jump in without any prior knowledge.

As you know from your work mayhem usually happens soon after!

That's pretty much what people always say especially the software developers of the tools. What I would like to see however is actual proof. One thing I won't buy and isn't really related to my questions is that it takes any great experience to click some buttons in GSA or Senuke.

Most people who makes this claim are really just talking about tiered link building but we all know about tiered link building

It just doesn't hold water to claim inexperienced. On this forum alone almost all the regulars do not rely on tools after penguin anymore

Not debatably but where it might still work and some evidence is what I am interested in hearing.

I have had great success with facebook pages, still do using GSA Ser (fiverr gig)...works like a magic.

However, no luck with youtube videos...haven't tried web 2.0 properties or anything else.

I personally don't use seo tools anymore but I know quite a few marketers that still use them and see great results. One marketer in particular that I know only uses GSA and manages to rank his sites for a multitude of keywords.. The only problem though is that every time google updates their algorithm, his sites get slapped and he has to start all over again.

These tools are becoming obsolete fast unless you can honestly tell me that G will go back to the days when 1000 PR0 links > 1 PR 4/5 link....

The higher the metrics/authority the harder it will be to get a link on a site. Link quality over quantity (the era of PBN/bought links is here)

    Automation doesn't stand a chance.
