Does changing host acct negatively impact ranking?

I have an offline client with some very good local ranking on a static site. I've built him a new site on Wordpress but his hosting doesn't use cPanel and is a bit of an antique. It seems to be having trouble with the migration/cloning of the new site. One of the client's customers has been hosting the site for several years at little to no cost as a favor. It's been a personal relationship and could get sticky.

My client is willing to move the site to different hosting, but I'd like to determine if we should move or if I should work with this other hosting situation since we'd be uploading an entirely different site on different hosting at the same time. . . . and how that impacts ranking.

I've not run into this before - thoughts?

THANKS!

    Hello,

You should point the same domain name to the new hosting. Then go ahead and upload the site. That way the site migrates hosting but there is not another copy of it out there on the web. Google will still be able to find the site, the only thing that will change is the host ip address.

Ideally the hosting would be in the same country - other than that you don't have much to worry about people move hosts all the time.

Thanks Nick - I wasn't sure about a new IP addy making a difference to the site because I'd rather move the hosting than deal with the guy who owns the servers (private hosting for just a couple businesses that are all static sites).

    Have a great weekend!

There will likely be some ranking changes during the process of changing things over but it should stabilize and return to normal after a little while, providing the new host is a good one.

Here is a case study on some slow-loading hosts having a negative impact on search rankings.

if its will be on same country will not big problem
if you will buy vps and and get unique ip and custum nameservers your ranks will boost
    good luck !

  • the only negative impact i can think of is if the server is slower causing page load times to increase
