Can expired domains available to register still have fake PR?

I am just wondering this - I found an expired domain, which is available to register freely at the normal registration price - can this still have a fake PR somehow?

Its only a PR3 but i am just wondering if this is even possible as you cannot really add a 301 on an expired domain that is not even being hosted anymore....

any help would be appreciated...

If it expired sometime after the last PR update, then you wouldn't need to redirect an expired domain to fake the PR. Only way to be sure is to check the links. PR comes from links. If the links are not there to support the PR, it is invalid.

Exactly. If the links going to the site are real then the site can't possibly be fake.

there are only 7 links from google to the domain - but the domain is 7 years old or even more.

Also, I have my own sites with PR 3 which have no backlinks which I made from scratch (and new domain), and they are simple 2 page websites, till this day I wonder why its even PR3.

Are you using google to check for backlinks ? That would explain why you don't see any backlinks.

Use majesticseo or ahrefs for more link infromation.

PR of an expired domain won't give you any SEO benefits as on date. The moment Google realizes it belongs to another owner, the link juice is going to dry up.

This is a great and on-spot fake PR checker: Fake PageRank Checker

Don't put too much value on PR when choosing an expired domain.

Make sure it has high PA / DA and TF / CF. You con obtain those numbers from OSE and MajesticSEO.

My rule of thumb is that PA should be above 30 and DA above 20
As far as TF/CF combination goes, i like both of those numbers to be above 15

I wouldn't put any value into any of those numbers. None of them are accurate.

        It's all about the backlinks.

Age has nothing to do with PR. All it takes is one good backlink to create a PR 3 really.

If they really are a PR 3, there are backlinks making them a PR 3. You may not have created them or even be aware of them, but there are backlinks involved.

If you bought the domain then you own the domain then you are now the "owner" genius.

Oh,. bull. I have a few expired domains i bought and they still have page rank, for what it is worth since Google doesn't update it publicly very often. The links are still there, and that is why I bought them.

You don't know what you are talking about.
