Yahoo Answers Better to use url shortner or not?

by Anne Laidlaw 17 replies
Is it better to use a url shortner in places like Yahoo answers so it is a different url in each post? So I don't get nailed for spamming.
Or should I be using my own domain for Google?

As long as you are providing valuable answers I don't think you will get nailed for spamming?
Unless you are just posting "hey you should check this out: yourdomain.com"

Yes. Pretty good tip. Just to add that the valuable answer should be NATURAL and should not look like the user is spamming!!

Best to avoid URL in post and stick to resource box if you want maximum chance for your acct to survive. And by all means avoid common short urls like bitly & tinyurl coz they are on to that and it tends to get a lot of accts busted - especially new accts. Also, don't be stupid and refer to your same website/landing page in every post, refer other people's good reference sites as well.

Never use URL shortener while posting on YA you will get banned instead use your own domain with related link and an informative answer. Put the link in resources box.

Thans for the info guys. I have been using my own domain in the resource box and in posts when it was relevant to the post. I give other urls also when I can give info out for other topics.

    thanks,

Yahoo Answers is nofollow links, so it doesn't matter. Besides a URL shortner is usually a 301/302 redirect which is basically a direct link. Not that it really matters in this case since your links are already nofollow.

i think until your post if good and informative. you do not get any problems. but you should not include links in each and every answer.

if not mistaken their is a part in form of answering where you can put your link of the website you own, it is not necessary to make it short, most important in yahoo answer is if your answer choose as best answer.

If you believe that, then you are not using twitter, youtube, facebook, ...

This thread is just junk. Why post more replies, especially like that?

There are url shorteners, and there are url shorteners.

Traffic will click shortened URLs all day long. Real example, this bitly link (https://bitly.com/1vqd2ni+) has over 15,800 clicks. Screenshot below.

The difference here with this forum thread is OP thinks a shortened URL matters for nofollowed Yahoo Answer links. Basically wasting their time considering the link is useless for SEO. That's SEO, not direct traffic (two different things).

I dont think it matters, although I would not use a URL shortener. If your comment is a good comment that is going to matter most.

IMO general audience feels more comfortable to click on a link that looks clean and self explanatory. e.g. hxxp/site/how-to-increase-rank vs. hxxp:/bitly/+some-link. Now you can decide which one you like to click?

Don't use URL shortener, just use your domain name and maybe make a little signature instead of referring it in every post.

I dont think that would matter as long as your anwers are related and on the topic you wont have problems being a spam.
