The mystery behind ranking youtube videos revealed

Wohooo!

Sorry its just this thing had me buggin for so effin long and as some of you might know i asked for advice, there was lots of different advice given by some cool people here and some idiots (sorry have to call it as it is) and i TRIED them all, no kidding tried them all because i wanted to know. Ordered WSOs even (i haven't reviewed them for the fear of losing my account, me being new member and all and them being old (got in a trouble with one even but thanks to the good mod here, things worked out in my favor)).

Cost me worth a f*cking kidney okay not that much trying them but you get the idea. I now know how to rank it both on youtube and google, youtube is far easier. Pshew way easier and quick than Google.

I am still not sure how long my videos are going to stick so i am not going to say something concrete yet until i am fully sure.

But a few things i learned after wasting hundreds of my bucks
  1. Views do NOT mean anything on google, they matter in youtube but not google. One of my video that i did nothing on except order views is sitting at #3 on youtube when it was at #8 when i first uploaded. They do bring you up in video search on google but never to the main page. So do not order them for ranking on google, one of my video with 45(44 minus the one view i just gave it) views is sitting on Google front page when others with thousands are nowhere.
  2. Engagement doesn't mean anything either on youtube or google. A lot of people say engagement but in my experiment it didn't do anything to matter. I did order high retention views but that doesn't come under engagement, by engagement i mean comments/likes/dislikes. I only did likes/dislikes, not sure how much of a factor comments are but i have my own genuine channel which gets a lot of comments on videos but it hasn't made to front page of G so i am going to assume comments don't matter either.
  3. Channel Authority is KING, beyotch. Your video is going to have an upper hand over anyone else despite their views/engagement or any other thing, both on Google and Youtube.

One of my video got deleted that i ran a different kind of experiment on so i never got to see the results, wish i could have before YT deleted it. It was about on-page seo over-optimization.

These things i am certain of and i know this isn't news to some of you but nobody told me this or told contradicting info so i hope this helps somebody. These didn't rank my video though on google, i am going to wait if the video sticks for longer before jumping to conclusions and posting what did it.

Oh and don't bother with the unlisted video thing, it never sticks. Youtube is too smart for that, unless you can profit in just a couple days with your video being first on youtube (it doesn't on google) then by all means go for it but it will go down to oblivion hard and never sticks.

It took 20 days, maybe earlier than that but i checked on the 20th day.

Disclaimer: Please don't kill me if you think what i said contradicts your experiences, i am not claiming to be an expert, far from it. I just did an experiment on a lot of videos using different advice given, combination of the advice and variations of advice and got these results. If you had different results please share.

Cheers

DR Los3, someone provided some info, no one cares if you read it or not and all you are doing is increasing post count by posting that stupid reply.

Anyhow, MKgg, the videos you are ranking based on the idea that views only matter when ranking in the SERPs, how competitive are the keywords you are ranking for? On youtube, for the videos you are ranking successfully, do you actually have any competition for the keywords you are ranking well for?
Thanks and have a great day!

I think you should have read YT TOS before buying views. Like I said in another
threa, I am tired of the same old same old. People selling views and buying views.
Bad news. But it just won't die.

You should have also realized that people searching on google.com, are
different than people searching on YT. But YT is a google property. The
VAST majority of video searchers do so on YT.

You don't tell us how a video gets authority.

The last time I checked YouTube was being fairly vague about their "engagement" metric, but I'm in the impression that viewing time does count under engagement. Unless you define engagement differently, which you shouldn't do because it's a term YouTube also uses.

It would make sense that YouTube comments don't matter much in Google search let alone push your video to the 1st page. YouTube has a different set of ranking factors than the "real" Google search. Google says it's not using social signals in Google search, and that would also include likes/dislikes/whatever from YouTube.

Can you please elaborate on authority and "unlisted video thing"? I don't quite get what you mean by the first. Second I probably don't get because I'm not that much into YouTube optimization even though I've blogged about it.

Sorry if i haven't been clear enough but views don't mean anything on Google, thats what i said. On google, the competition is not that tough but i do have my main competitor who has a very authoritative channel and i have never been able to beat him until now so i assume it still counts as tough considering my test channel only has one fake subscriber. Anything he publishes automatically shows up in google SERPS simply based on his channel authority (has thousands of subs).

As for youtube, the video i ranked #3 the competition is very stiff there, other videos have thousands of views and i am at #3 spot based on views alone. It was at #8-#9 when i first uploaded, ordered views and it is now at #3. I don't know if more views or engagement could make it to top on YT but i can't be arsed really now as YT never has been what i aimed for.

I knew the risk when ordering views and like i said i ordered them because some people advised that helps with ranking on Google. Now i know that was bullshit advice.

I am not at all worried about getting one of the video deleted, if anything i now know a shitty provider who i am going to order more views from to my competitors videos. Isn't that great ?

I don't get the hate, you wouldn't believe how many big brands have fake views.

And by authority i meant channel authority.

Thanks for clearing that up.So then my views come under high engagement because they were high retention (i checked - 90%+ retention). I am not at all bugged about it, it has to do with YT and YT never been much of a source of views even though my own videos naturally are in 3rd-5th position.

By authority i meant channel authority, you know the number of subscribers. Youtube has this thing where if you upload videos related to a specific niche then it kind of considers your channel an authority in that area (obvious stuff i guess). My competitor has close to 10,000 subscribers, has 1000s of videos related to my niche and i have noticed whenever he uploads a new video, it slowly starts moving upwards in google video search until it hits the G front page. Same goes for Youtube but because of those subs he gets views naturally and likes/dislikes/comments so he ranks on YT faster than G.

I have a feeling channel authority does have something to do with ranking on G. I ranked my video with zero authority with backlinks but my competitor doesn't do any kind of backlinking yet hits the front page and the only thing he has going on for him is his channel authority. I think someone also has mentioned this and its one of the hardest thing to achieve.

The unlisted thing is you upload the video unlisted, send fake views/likes/dislikes/comments and then public it after a few days. It will hit the #1 spot on youtube instantly. Sometimes it does on google too but its pure luck. After a couple days or a week at most the video will disappear. I think it has to do with the YT giving new videos exposure so after a while it disappears because its not that new anymore. I got this from a WSO i ordered, it said the video sticks but that was a lie, most of the WSOs have been like that in my experience.

Oh and my video is still there so Yay!.

Also link me to your blog/site or wherever you write about the stuff, i don't mind reading. There's always a thing or two you can learn from anyone

Thanks for the explanations. This authority thing is something I want to look into. To me it sounds plausible - channel with decent engagement and good number of subscribers would be a sign of a good publisher.

Like I told you before, you are welcome to, even encouraged to, review them as long as you keep it in their sales thread, actually bought their product or service, and refrain from any personal attacks.

You will not get in trouble for that.

Alright, on it. I didn't at the time because of the whole thing i had you know, but now that i am in the clear, i will give my honest review.

Not really sure about this. The video that got ranked was the one i actually thought was going to be deleted but interestingly it didn't. I have 6 videos now that are alive all with fake views and i don't think they are going down any soon, been close to a month already.

So the million dollar question would be how to achieve authority status

      Hey mate

Read my posts in response to nettiapina, i already answered what authority is. How do you build that ? By posting quality videos so people will want to subscribe to you. Authority is harder to achieve than just ranking one video because you have to consistently post videos/content related to a certain niche and make your viewers want to sub to your channel because they want to comeback. This is obviously not for churn and burn or any of that 15 minutes of fame type of methods that are sold here (rank your video instantly on youtube/google for just a few hours/days then disappear for eternity) as those methods violate youtube TOS and the videos are crappy quality but in the long term, having an authoritative channel pays off big time.

I am not sure if fake subscribers count or if there is any service that provides subscriptions, that probably requires another case-study/experiment and as much as i am interested to do that, i am shit outta funds. Besides i am ranking videos like crazy hehe that is bringing me genuine subscribers so no point in testing.

I actually wanted to post an update to this thread as i have more information now that sometime has passed. The video is now #1 on both google and youtube which is just awesome and i managed to rank a few more videos.

Oh and there's a thing i want to add...about on-page seo over-optimization. There is no such thing as over-optimization when it comes to youtube videos, i have noticed the videos that i just spam with keywords and tags rank better/easier than ones without or less keywords. Its actually really weird, some of my videos have ranked without any on-page seo (apart from the title and small description) but that has happened very rarely. So i'd suggest using as much keywords/tags relevant to the video as you can, its making ranking easier. That is what i am doing. May change in future, who knows.

You can rank videos in Google without any views. All you need is backlinks and social signals this is from my practical experience.
