For someone who is on a very tight budget and wants to promote clickbank products, can he make use of blogger (blospot). In terms of getting ranked for long tail keywords, are there any limitations?

Yes, you can. Infact, according to my experience, Blogger blogs sometimes rank better.

If it is optimized well enough, then yes it can be ranked high. But make sure the blog complies with their affiliate links policy.

Affiliate links are allowed alright. Back in 2006 (when I was starting out online) and for a few years afterwards Blogger used to rank very easily but I'm not sure that it does anymore.

I rarely see a Blogger blog on page 1 of Google even for the most uncompetitive of terms these days. That may be because people don't want to put the time and effort into a blog that's not their own though. It doesn't make much sense to build hundreds or thousands of links to rank a property that could potentially be locked or deleted at any time.

I understand what it's like to be in a tight spot, however it really is very inexpensive to start a site that you own yourself. The average domain price is about $10 although you could get one for as little as $1 from Godaddy with a coupon code. Plus you can get hosting for about $5-$10 a month. It really is a much better option than relying on Blogger.

Maybe in your niche you don't.

This guy is banking so well with his blogspot blog that even old authority sites gets pushed below in serps.

Blogspots blog work well, really well in fact than your own custom domains. Its google's own property, why the heck won't they rank it

Yes, but the problem with such platforms is that at the end of the day you don't really own your web site. Sure the content might be yours, but if they don't like what you're posting or how you're promoting your site they can take the property right out from underneath you.

Then you don't own your own website either, with that logic.
At any time, your host could shut you down.
      Google could deindex you.

      The horrors!

I have no idea why anyone thinks that somehow wordpress makes things better.
It's a CMS. That's it. And a lousy one at that.

Blogger is so much better. Comes SEO'd right out of the box. No idiotic plug ins
needed. You can do whatever you want.

Why are people worried about google shutting you down? Makes no sense.

I have never lost one iota of sleep worrying about my blogspot spots. And they
make me a ton of money.

Oh sure. Take your videos off of youtube....seriously....why get shut down?

Delete your FB pages, twitter, linkedin, tumblr, etc.

Blogger and YouTube are two of the most powerful marketing tools on the planet.
Bar none. And they are both free and owned by google. It would make no sense
      to NOT use them.

Yes you can rank it really well. I have been with Blogger for some years and I have experienced that your (low-competitive) blogspot content ranks in SERPs even if you don't have a single backlink to it.

As far as fears concern, you can avoid any loss by using your custom domain from beginning. Do SEO work for your custom domain, host your blog with powerful Google servers for free and you can move your blog elsewhere, i.e. to a self-hosted WP blog later if Google deletes it. Just download regular backups of your blog and use your custom domain, everything will go fine.

Some more tips; use a third-party template, as default Blogger templates aren't well optimized for SEO. There are a lot of templates for Blogger which have been adapted from WP designs. By optimizing the title of your blogspot blog and by using your custom domain along with regular backups, you can go successfully with Blogger.

If you're on a strict budget you should probably figure out how to get a bigger budget before wasting your time.

Not necessarily. Just make sure to use that money well. Parasite seo doesn't have to be expensive.

I have ranked blogger blogs, and all else being equal, they actually rank faster than a wordpress blog because of the authority domain. I will tell you that the disadvantage of building a blog on blogger is that it is not your own site...you don't own it, or the content on it.

If you build your whole business on someone else's property, and they decide you broke a rule you didn't even know about, or that they don't "like" you anymore for a variety of other reasons, you are SO screwed!

Make sure you begin with the end in mind when creating the site. If you are using it short term, just to make a quick buck, then go for it.....Good Luck

I once lost 15+ bloggers blogs and daily income of $50+ in just an email from google stating your blog is spam when no spam content was present. It is very easy for google to delete your blogs. Then i wrote a post about it in my blog and it got very popular. And then my site was sandboxed and didn't rank for even it's oven domain name keyword with no abnormal backlink built.

Think twice before going to blogger.

For long time results it is not good.
Google may ban or suspend your account any time.
Better use some cheap self hosted sites.
