This is JUST how I do SEO. Tell me my problem please.

I am getting into internet marketing. I made only 1 sale in 4 months so far of doing this. What a terrible rate. The reason is I get no traffic to my niche sites because I can't rank in SEO.

The first thing I do is to make sure my site is set for SEO. I put keywords in the articles, set the permalinks right in wordpress and put my keywords in order up front in the articles title.

The next step is I type in "do follow social sites" or "do follow sites" and I post my links to the actual do follow sites. I have a small list I have found of just 14 or so(well I have 2 lists I may have 20+ sites to post to) and that is all I can find that are good.

In some niches there are no blogs so that only leaves hunting for hours to find a few more spots to post to or write articles for do follow article directories which I have yet to do much.

I am trying to rank now for a couple of keywords with just 13,000+- competing sites when the keyword is put in "keyword here".

It should be easy I am told to rank for these but 3 weeks later and my new site is still only on page 2 close to the bottom. I have 54 links according to yahoo.

I really need help.

    See this:
    affiliatemarketingdiary.com/web-20/top-23-do-follow-social-bookmarking-sites/75/
    mikesmoneyclub.blogspot.com/2009/05/31-dofollow-social-bookmarking-sites.html

Lists like those are junk. Of all the links you might can post to like 10 and the rest are garbage.
There has to be a better way.

Maybe the case, but without knowing what it is you are selling, what your website looks like, and how long you have been online, (plus a whole bunch of other stuff) it is hard to say exactly.

You could head over to http://www.warriorforum.com/warrior-...-together.html and you may be able to gather some good assistance there.

The site is 3 weeks old maybe 4.

I have posted to 2.0 sites and basically that is all I have posted to.
Check out my site and see. I said the competition was not too high but I know the sites up top matter too. See what you think. I want to get top spots for "fear of driving".
    Thanks

When you say 13k competing sites, do you mean allintitle on Google.com?

If that's the case, that's a fairly huge number. You need to implement the basics of SEO. I highly recommend you get a copy of Aaron Wall's SEO Book.

Submitting to social bookmarking sites and commenting on dofollow blogs is a part of SEO but not all SEO. There are hundreds of other factors that you must learn and implement in order to rank high.

      I have a question..

      What are you currently doing?

This would help us see the problems in your strategy in order to help you.

Even after knowing that and trying to guide you in the right direction it still might not help.

Because you might be targeting highly competetive keywords, who knows, (just read 13k allintitle, thats quite strong)

Most of all it's best to outline what you currently do so you can receive better advice.

You title is way to long, so that is not really any use... and ensure your content is alright...

As for linking, what are the sites PR that you are linking too???

On top of that use forum sigs and directories to add more links but make the links count...

I am lost thats what. I am posting to social bookmarking sites and having no success.

Type it it, Just like thus "fear of driving" and it has a little over 13k.(EDIT it has 91200 when in " ") I was told that was nothing to rank for? I am confused and I AM TIRED of it. 4 months of miserable reading and hard work and I have made 1 yes 1 sale!

I need real SEO advice. I am begging here you have no idea.

You title is way to long, so that is not really any use.
That is not true at all. My title is the keyword I am targeting, I did not use any fillers. Unless I have to only use the keyword I want. I guess there was some filler but the main keyword is up front, that is all that matters correct?

Bookmarking is a big red X.

I was thinking you'd say that and my suspicions were correct.

Your Meta tags are all wrong.

Title tag - Way too long, it shouldnt be more than 75 characters.
      Description - Missing
      Keywords tag - Missing

like i mentioned in my earlier post, you need to learn basics of SEO. Please download Aarol wall's SEO book and it will help you a lot.

Total backlinks to your website according to LinkDiagnosis.com, only 8 and of those 4 are nofollow.

You need more do-follow links to your website with your keyword anchor text in the links.

Your website is missing header tags (h1, h2, h3 and so on), missing strong tags and also missing internal links.

Come on man, you need to learn basics of SEO before you can rank for a keyword that has 13k competing websites.

You wont offend me at all. I want the truth and the advice that I can do to get top spots for longtail keywords and NOTHING ELSE.

4 months and I have had only 1 sale and I have many failed websites probably all from the same thing. Any other advice you can tell me on why that site is not ranking? Is it all to do with those missing things?

Also the site design, if Google done a manual review they wouldn't like it.

Honestly go check out NicheMarketNinja, it's the best advice I can give you right now and I know it will help you.

You can always hire someone to do the SEO for you.

Just remember with SEO you get what you pay for.

I did a search for SEO the other day on google and saw a guy doing $29 SEO services.

      Thats not SEO.

SEO takes dedication and time and effort.

Start with long-term keywords. Do a deep research in FREE Google Adwords Keyword Tool and try to choose long-term keywords with low- comeptition and minimum 1000 searches per month. Then write a few articles using the certain keyword only 3-4 times. At last submit them to EZA, goarticles and articlesbase for maximum exposure.

This tactic will help you get to the 1st page of Google within 1-3 days. This really works for me.

You have to setup a clean and clear ONSITE SEO and make sure meta keywords, meta tags, description, title are setup very well. After that you have to get more quality backlinks..... you can do social bookmarks + article submissions to that, as well as you have to add new content to your site regular --- This will lead you to move to TOP....

I agree with above - I think you're grabbing lots of snippets of different tactics. Forget about backlinks initially - get your on page SEO perfect first - without that everything else will be in vain.

It's not difficult but if you're missing description and basic tags you don't stand a chance. Aaron Walls book is good also you can try the free version of WebCEO - download it, tell it which keyphrase you are targeting and point it a web page.

It will give you a list of on page stuff that is incorrect, go through the list and keep updating the check. It's not perfect but will make sure you don't miss out the basic stuff.

    Good luck

As the very first step, you have to check for ONSITE SEO, you have to make sure that you have setup the Titel, Meta tag, Meta description, Keywords and etc properly. As well as you have to make sure that your content there is unique.

Yes, it is very hard to find DOFOLLOW niche related blogs, however, You can use some OFF TOPIC too, If a page has PR4, no need to look for niche :p

I've scanned some of the replies, all make sense.

You know all about the putting the right tags, heading, alt tags etc blah blah. Do you know what will reward you the most and what Google will like you for? Not worrying as much about the tecnicalities and just put good, orginal, fresh content on your site, a good few pages. If you can't write it, pay someone to write some articles for you.

Now, some people will think I'm talking cr*p or this won't really work. Well, I don't normally brag, but I have a site on page 1 for a 3 word phrase that even which quote serach, has 559,000 results. That took me 6 months but position 5 on page 1 aitnt bad. I stopped trying to dupe Google into giving me a good rank and instead just gave them what they want, good content in order to give the visitor a good experience...which then means they use google more...which means google rewards you.

    Thanks,
Phil p.s, the other 95% of the time, I talk complete crap but I'm right on this one....oh, and with back links, they should be vaired and natural, not all the same phrase.
