What to show clients in a Modern SEO Package

Hi all,

It's been a long time since my last post here. Things have changed a lot; in a good way. Anyways, here I go with my question.

As we all know that the way we do SEO and link building has been changing every now and then. Most of the time, clients know what they want from the SEO agency they hire, but there are many who are just not sure what to expect from their SEO provider in terms of services and results.

My question is: Keeping current SEO trends in mind, what we (as a service provider) should offer to our clients so as to get their trust as well as to show them expected results too? By asking this, I mean should we tell them 'all of the things we are going to do' in the package; things which most SEOs would rather hide in the beginning (white hat things of course)?

I already know about content marketing, social media, video marketing and other things. So please be specific to what my original question is.

    I don't personally hide what i do but i am actually detailed about what i provide.
    Attaching reports is a must for me and i see that customers appreciate that.

    So my 2cents are to be explicit about your work and you will never (almost) get complaints.

    I'm quite sure you are aware of all the Google animals being unleashed in recent years and their purposes, especially those targetting link spam. If being transparent is going to assure potential clients of the safety of their sites, then that is the way to go.

      Thanks guys, appreciate it.

      So you mean that I should 'crystal clearly' show everything in the package while sending proposal? Every method I'll be using and every technique I'll be working on?

      Or should I still keep something for the time once the client is confirmed? Rest assured, my intent of hiding things is just to make sure that client can easily digest what I am quoting him in a package (with not too much of those technical stats and words you know).

      PS: You know how most SEOs are, they never tell all of it at once.

        I wouldn't do that.

        If I am having surgery, I do not need to hear every little detail and technique the surgeon will be using. I just need to know the overall plan and general idea.

        Also, if you go into a ton of detail in a proposal, what will happen is you will have prospects who take that plan to their sister's husband's cousin's coworker's kid who kinda sorta knows something about computers and have them do it for a fraction of the price.

        Then they'll screw it up and come back yelling at you that your method doesn't work.

        Just because they have the ingredients, doesn't mean they know how to cook the final product.

          From my experience there are people who would take the details and would rather let their 'geniuses' do the work for them instead of hiring professionals.

    You don't have to spell out everything unless they ask for it. Generally they are going to focus on the results. Are they seeing more traffic? Has their return improved?

    If anything you could let them see some of your more impressive promotional work. Guest posts on industry blogs, etc.
