Website types not worth doing SEO for?

Are there any types of websites that it's not worth doing any SEO for? What I mean by that is there a variance between types of sites where SEO is really effective down to not effective at all, because of the type of site it is? so for example, will SEO for a video website be more effective than doing the same SEO for a game arcade? or vice versa?

Well, I couldn't agree on that because I don't agree with your here I will just say SEO itself means search engine optimisation and I don't think in any book its written that you can't do SEO of this site or that site.

No, but I'm wondering are there kinds of sites where SEO is more effective, perhaps because those sites are not as easily promote through other means?

In my opinion one page sales letter sites. Much better getting direct traffic through Affiliate, list traffic and JVs.

Its a good question though. In addition there are some niches where you are probably better doing PPC to start making money quickly (while you build up your SEO)

I definitely agree with Mike on this. When marketing sales pages, direct traffic has always worked best for me. In addition to that, PPC can do wonders for your business if mastered.

SEO is worth it for every website except those that are incompatible with any monetisation method on the planet. Even if a website cannot be monetized, you can still SEO it just to get some eyeballs on your content so you won't be publishing content that no one reads.

But are there types of sites, where it's better to spend your time doing other kinds of promotion to get traffic to it?

I think what you're asking is "Will the content of the website impact my SEO efforts to improve its ranking?"

If that's the case, there are only few types of sites that won't rank well based solely on their content (assuming Google hasn't dropped the ban hammer on them). For any non-illicit, legal, and well constructed website, your SEO efforts will have the same impact.

A better question for you to pursue would be "What keywords should I target to make the greatest impact on my website?" I'd recommend keywords with high traffic and moderate/low competition.

There are websites out there that offer free trials to their backlinking services if you look around. Hope this helps!

It may be more difficult to rank 1 page type sites but that doesn't mean you can't still rank them.

You should utilize all sorts of traffic generation methods for all of your sites, but as said above, SEO probably shouldn't be number 1 (But you should still do SEO) on those 1 page/sales letter type sites.
