When editing the general setting in your wordpress, you can see canonical url option accompanied by a checklist. What happens if i check this option?? any idea, Please share the right answer guys.

    If you click it, every URL through which your site can be accessed will be redirected to your preferred url. For example, if you prefer your site to appear as domain.com in Google, the www version of your site (www.domain.com) will be redirected to the non www version.

      Kindly help me with this case ie the example that you have mentioned here, How am i supposed to do this, Im currently using a wordpress site and both www and non www versions of my url appears on the web, i would like to change it to one url, i have used the site setting feature in webmasters to resolve this issue. but the issue still exists. Any way of getting this done via wordpress? if yes, please explain step by step,

    Canonical tags basically tells the search engines bots which piece of content are the original and which one are duplicates.
