    This is a VERY profitable business model indeed. It's exactly what many of the most successful seo's I know are doing. The great thing is you control everything, so if you lose a client you don't lose all the efforts you put into rankings like you would working on a client site - you just find a new client and put their contact information on your website.

    One thing I would say though is build good looking websites, not just crappy looking blogs. You need to site to look like a genuine business or it won't convert.

    That's what many SEOs are doing right now in local niches. For example, they can build a site and rank it for "Chicago Dentist" then rent it to actual dentists working in Chicago. It's not new, but it's very profitable.
