Hello,

I am considering building some directories.

Is it OK to compile other companies names, address and websites or do they need to sign up, or have permission from them?

My thought is who wouldn't want there business listed on a directory?

    I'm sure you could do that, I don't think that's illegal. The only thing is how you got their data, that's where it could be a problem.

    Yes, if you keep you directory clean (e.g. not spammy), it is working quite well this way. If the company has a dedicated link building person, they might contact you in order to remove the link. I am happy to comply.

    Personally, I am using directory press, it makes the setup & day to day operations really easy.
