Private domain registration & IP's

I plan to rank 10 different site from the same account. These accounts will have nothing to do with each other except they will target the same city ranking. They will not be linked together in any way.

My question is:
1) Should I get a private domain registration?
2) Should I put these on separate IP addresses?

The reason I am asking this is because I don't know if G will detect what's going on by the domain registration or IP address.

Thanks!

If sites are for Similar Product or similar content, It would be better that you split sites with different IPs as Google often track sites by IP if they are penalizing some sites. Adding all similar sites on same IP is dangerous in many ways.

totally agree ^^^ along with that Ive also seen people skipping the whois blocking and just typing a random name/address/phone number/email, that way you look real and like your not hiding anything

If you intend to rank the 10 sites using blackhat techniques, by all means do host them on separate IPs.

They are not for similar products & will have different content. These are lead generation sites for local businesses in the same city. Would you still recommend separate IPs?

That seems blackhat & I will be selling the leads to businesses so I want to keep everything legit.

      This will be totally whitehat.

You should seperate your domains on SEPERATE hosts. And I'm not talking about SEO hosting. But like cheap and legit hosting like Hobohost, 1-dollarhosting, Pazhosting and so on...

    Hope this helps

No... Its fine to host sites on the same hosting account, why do you think webhosts sell unlimited domain hosting. You don't need to hide the fact you own ten websites, unless you are trying to game google by interlinking them.

      Hi qu4rk,

Why are you asking this question? Did you see a Google policy that said they rank websites differently if they are on shared hosting, or that a person or entity can operate only one website?

Google does not penalize you for using shared hosting, nor for operating more than one website, and not even for operating multiple websites on the same IP. If they did, then websites like Wikipedia would be in big trouble with Google rankings, as the owner Wikimedia operates a network of websites hosted on the same IP and uses extensive cross-linking to all of the websites. Google has no problem with these practices as long as you are following guidelines.

If you are asking because you intend to do something illegal, unethical, or immoral than it might be prudent to hide your identity and your affiliations. It may even be prudent to hide your affiliations when doing business above board, as your competitors could single you out for attacks. But no reason to hide from Google, unless you are blatantly violating Google's guidelines for webmasters.

ROTFLMAO! Almost every big site interlinks, same IP, etc. I have no idea why you
people are so afraid of following the big dogs.

Like google does not know that amazon owns alexa, IMDB, wag, vine, soap,
boxofficemojo, and a zillion other sites that tout the fact that are owned by
        amazon and link up?

Stop doing things that you need to hide. Problem solved.

Ok guys. Thanks for giving me some newbie slaps upside the head. I deserve it for being such a newbie. I'm just making sure that I have all my bases covered.

The reason I'm asking is because SEO can be unnatural & detected by G. Since, I'm just beginning then I thought I would make sure I wasn't shooting myself in the foot by hosting the sites on the same IP.

Thanks for the clarafication. How about the domain registration? I will be trying to rank a few different sites for in the same area in both similar & different local niches. Would you register them privately?

Randomize your registration information if your setting up a PBN.

Private WHOIS is ok, but if a large percentage of sites in your network use private registration, it sets off some red-flags with the big G (Its a pretty clear indicator whats going on).

As a rule, I never setup more than 2 sites that link to the same target site on the same IP.

If you have any other questions, feel free to ask.
