So we got to the 95% using Technical SEO with Tier 1/2 Hosting Clusters, but as the top 5% make 50% of all online revenue so need to look at some Business SEO (you need both) - do people have recommendations on the best tool to use for searching backlinks. Obviously there is Alexa which is one of the top research tools - we subscribed to their service and is pretty interesting.

There are lots of tools that can be use but I prefer not to use them as automation in building links is a no no for search engines.

Sorry, not clear, it was for analysis not creation, we agree as there is no quality control with automated tools. So looking for the best and most accurate analysis tools for backlinks - keyword usage - and any other Business SEO methods primarily relating to competitor analysis.

Ahrefs, MajesticSEO, and WebMeup are the three best backlink checkers I have found. Everything else I've looked at is pretty much crap compared to those three.

After the fiasco with their web tracking software, which they still haven't explained, I wouldn't recommend WebMeUp to anyone though.

Many thanks, Ahrefs & WebMeup look pretty interesting - will check in to them further. Any suggestions on competitor keyword analysis, it's more for marketing than SEO, no point re-inventing the wheel.

For competitor keyword analysis use Semrush. It's the best I've found till date and it's adequately accurate for research purposes. I usually confirm it's search volume estimates though using Google's keyword planner just to be sure it's correct.

I agree for Ahrefs, it seems to find backlinks the fastest.

Monitorbacklinks is also a pretty good one.

Webceo is slow on the free plan, but I think it updates your links every 7 days. Good breakdown in the analytics of them too!

Supposedly some people are using SEO Spyglass but I've never tried it. SEMRush and Moz Open Site Explorer are good.
