Anchor Text Variation

I'm trying to recover a website for a dentist is a fairly large city. He used to be on page 1, but he is stuck on page 7 now. I suspect the problem is anchor text variation. There are lots of variations of the main keyword, but I think the percentage, according to Magestic SEO, that have the keyword in it is hurting the rankings.

There are over 7,000 backlinks according to Magestic. So I'm thinking I need another 5,000 backlinks to recover the variation.

Where can I find the best source of links to accomplish this without them being completely crappy links that Google won't like as well as being affordable?

Thanks!

One thing you can do is try a new keyword variation Try including the city the dentist is in and the phone number of the dentist office in the title of the post. Also use the same information in the description and tags of the post.. You can also check the Google keyword tool to find more keyword ideas.

I understand what I need to do with the new anchor text. What I'm asking for is the best source for these links. Where is the best place to get a large amount of backlinks without getting penalized for low quality?

Backlinks are great but if you have not done the right keyword research it does not do you any good. If you must go this route a good tool to use would be backlinks indexer (no affiliation). Also keep in mind the most important thing is finding the right keywords. You may also want to make a review video for the dentist and use the authority of Youtube to get it ranked. Good luck.

I'd rather look into why a dentist is having 7000 backlinks.

The above is a very good point.

Also, throwing more links at a probably link penalized (7k links..) website is not going to do the trick in my opinion. No links that you can get 5k in a short period of time are of any quality..

But if you decide to still go down this road, I suggest you do a press release. Use the URL as anchor and no keyword anchors. Google tolerates press releases if you don't use keyword anchors and this can dilute your anchor nicely.

Didn't Google release a tool that let you tell them which backlinks to discount when ranking your site?

Yes, it's the "link disavowal tool" (but not at all reliable, I hear?).

When a dentist has 7,000 links it's most likely junk link blast.

      This.

There's something very wrong with a dentist having 7,000 links, and it's probably going to be something that Google either already doesn't like, or won't like in future. That can't be good news.

(Unless she's invented some radical, famous, new surgical or cosmetic treatment/process and illustrated it on her website, to which every dental school in the world has mlutiple links, or something? But that's a little far-fetched. Most likely it's just "spammy/bought backlinks" which will end up doing damage).

So what do is pretty simple. Use webmaster tools of google to get a list of all the links to your website. Then disavow ALL of them with the disavow tool. You could go through the list to see if any of the links are valuable to keep, but my guess is you won't find many... Now you can start to build a normal linkprofile and send in a reconsidaration request.

But to be honest it would be much easier to just start new website under a new domain.

A dentist does not need a lot of links to rank on page 1. For example I checked in the Dutch version of google and looking for the Dutch translation of 'dentist Amsterdam' gave me a first page link to a dentist that has about 70 backlinks. And Amsterdam is a pretty large city

Your Dentist is having 7000 links that might be not liking by the Google. There might be a chance to keep him in the Spam in Future.

New domain, start fresh rather than build upon someone's spam.

      Quoted for truth.

Look at the competition that is ranking for your target keyword. If the top 10 is ranking with only 10-50 link each, which should be the case for a locally-based dentist, then there's no way Google is going to be letting a black sheep of 7000 links in the top 10.

Disavow is only going to get you even more on their spam-watch-list.
