Keyword Density Checker?

Hey
I realize this might sound like an old school question.

But what is the best modern-day keyword density checker that really gives an accurate read on a page ?

And should we be below 1% these days?

Also, if we are above X%, do we get hit with panda or is it on a sliding scale where we just don't rank as well?

The reason I ask is that I have competitors that rank above me with very very low keyword density and I have much stronger links.

    Counting words doesn't rank pages.

I respect you and I am not upset with you.

But people like you who say stuff like this does nothing positive for this forum.

Its kind of like the bully in middle school who would pick on someone and then no one would come in and support the person being picked on.

If there was one thing about forums that destroys them - it is what you just did. Its trollish people who are constantly on the forum. They respond quickly, nuking the thread.. which discourages others from posting.

I have ranked many websites on Google, and I dont count words. I was simply wondering if there was a good keyword density. Google is an algo and its indeed true if they see too much of something then it will trigger a penalty.

I didn't see that one coming...

I wasn't in any way trying to bully anyone. My comment was based on SEO, not some manufactured affiliate sales pitch used to convince buyers they should make a purchase on a software/plugin product (ex: keyword density).

You've ranked pages without counting words so why start counting words now? Not that counting words is going to rank a page (it's not).

Nobody is getting penalties for writing like a normal person would write. Keyword stuffing might get a page slapped, again, that's just someone counting words.

Forget the sales gimmicks & focus on things that will be beneficial to your ranked pages/sites, like linking relevant internal pages where those multiple pages are focused on the same subject (not necessarily exact same keyword).

      What's wrong with the truth?

Keyword stuffing has NOTHING to do with keyword density. It's an entirely
unrelated topic, that unfortunately gets mixed together. People think it's
the same thing. They count density to avoid keyword stuffing. Insane
thinking. Anyone who gives you a percentage, has flown the coop.

I hire out my article writing and the people often write stuff of 3% density or more, but I recently read we should have below 1% density.

So I was wondering if I lowered it to 1% density then maybe I'd rank better.

I guess I was wondering if its on a sliding scale or something (ie the higher density the more you slide into panda) , never experimented with it.

No offense but I would hire a writer If I needed articles, I wouldn't hire people that advertise/focus on SEO. I assume your content is for sites that traffic will actually want to read.

The reason I said hire an actual writer is they don't care about Google or any Google algo so they won't be focused on stuffing keywords. When people write naturally the LSI keywords flow naturally, there's no thinking about an algo., it's just human nature to use relevant keywords without even thinking about it.

Don't get me wrong, the pages need to be optimized If your trying to rank the pages or even use the pages for supporting pages (internal links). So, with a real writer all you need to do is make a default page layout & give the writer a subject to write about (think Wikipedia structured page).

Great tip Yukon. I always have them write for some keywords and lsi, but maybe i will try your approach and I could always tweak it a bit.
