I have a fairly new ecommerce site and would like to start doing some link building in order to help with organic search. I know that Google frowns upon automated link building software, so what are the alternatives? Is there any software out there that is safe to use without getting penalized? Thanks!

For now, no SEO software is safe. Maybe after a few years, when social media integration will be posible, and search engines will considered your social accounts (used for posting articles or bookmarking, or etc) as legitimate profiles.

Your question is akin to asking if fire is safe and should we use it. Fire is safe as long as you know what you are doing. The problem is not with the softwares. You need to adapt your strategies according to what's working.

I would recommend learning how to build links manually. It gets hella old after you build 1000 links or so. But once you get your site ranked it will have been worth it. I still have a site or two ranking with software from a couple of years ago, but it's definitely a crutch and you should just build a few links with PA instead of a ton of weak irrelevant links anyway.

I am still using several software for my link building strategies BUT I use them on moderation and mostly to get backlinks from private network blog sites and high PR sites only.

So far this works for me as long as I closely keep an eye on the difference between spamming and building good backlinks.

I also do manual backlinking, mostly for guest posts and other content marketing and social media marketing tasks.

My point is you can still use these linkbuilding software as long as you have a concrete plan on how to use these tools without getting penalized.

Well, no there is still no any software available which can help you in building links without getting penalized. And please for one rather than keep thinking about doing fake work this time try thinking how can you really build the natural links while following all the guidelines.

Building manually is much better approach. Software tools are not safe at all.

I am not sure if link building automation will provide you with the right results. Build links on your own through genuine and authoritative websites for getting the best results.

Automatic link building is not safe as it can create spams so better if you go for manual building it would be worth full information.

Link building software that automatically bookmarks or submits on your behalf are based on old fashioned seo techniques that are increasingly less effective today, so i wouldn't waste my time with those. Modern link building software tend to be more outreach based cms, like hubspot and etc.. that lets you genuinely connect with bloggers and other webmasters. But you don't need a software for that, a gmail is more than enough and an open attitude.

As you also know that Google doesn’t allow usage of any software for submitting links, hence there is no question of asking any software then. Apart from this, Google doesn’t need many poor backlinks instead it prefers little good quality links. I will suggest you to go for manual submission of links.
