CTR Theme and Getting Banned from Adsense

So yesterday morning was a great day as I had been on a steady climb up to the equivalent of a full-time income for the last 4 months. I had also consulted with an SEO company the day before to begin working towards ranking higher for several additional keywords. My spirits were at an all time high, that is until around noon when I logged into my account only to see the most disturbing message that beloved Adsense screen could show. Not only had my account been disabled but the $2k + I had earned over the last 2 mos. was set to be "refunded to the advertisers". Fantastic...

Now, I'm not writing this thread to tell others not to use CTR Theme. I'm simply sharing my story to let others know that if you value your earnings and Adsense as a stream of income, make sure you follow the Terms and that even if you use a well-built and well established theme that you also use your best judgement. I simply installed the theme and began using it with maximum ads placed and didn't do much to question the methods by which my ads were earning.

Over the course of a few months I do feel that CTR Theme increased my earnings substantially over what other themes would have been able to bring in, however I also was aware of the fact that there are multiple questionable methods by which the theme gets clicks.

Both of my sites which had Adsense on them used CTR Theme. I had tons of unique and very valuable content I had written by hand and to boot my site is far more helpful to the end user than any other site in the industry. The message I received states: "Your site should also provide a good user experience through clear navigation and organization. Users should be able to easily click through your pages and find the information they are seeking."

Whatever you do just make sure to always use your own judgement and don't take risks unless you're willing to face the consequences. For the last month I had plans to implement a new theme that did NOT maximize Adsense ads but instead provided a better look and feel for the user. I don't feel I have anyone to blame but MYSELF. In a way I'm happy this happened because I never wanted to rely on Adsense or Google for a primary source of income. Now I'm forced to place my efforts in my other projects and play harder with my other affiliate sites and create more of my own products.

Can you post a link or screenshot of the Index page?

Maxing out CTRtheme isn't a good idea IMO, the 2 push down images should be removed, & the Ads narrowed down to the 2 best performers (per page).

That really sucks! All that hard work and money lost. I'm sorry but I am not sure what a CTR theme is? Can anyone give me a brief?

Sorry to hear your account was banned especially with all that money in unpaid earnings.

Did Google say anything specific about why your account was banned?

I've heard of quite a few people getting banned most of which haven't used CTR Theme. Although things like the pushdown images really don't look good and go against the thing Google has about giving users a better experience.

Like you say this will force you into ridding yourself of relying on Google .. there are plenty of other ad networks you can try .. it does depend on your niche though .. the benefit with Adsense was that so many advertisers from a very wide range of niches use it.

However I think there are other ad networks that would possibly perform better for you in terms of targeting ads.

I always hated the way Google doesn't generate ads based on the content of a page so much any more .. sort defeats the object of targeted advertising for me.

I know it takes into account web history and previous searches by the looks of it .. but when I read a blog about SEO I'm not going to be clicking on the advertisement about cat grooming.

The way you're handling this says everything about your character. Most everyone who has lost their adsense will blame anyone and everyone but themselves. That said, I am very sorry to hear this happened to you. I had given thought to using the theme close to a year ago, but just didn't get a good feeling with it.

I believe you will come away from this in a better position than you were just from a few of the other avenues you mentioned. Wishing you the best of success!

    Hi,
I am the owner of the CTRTheme and I tried contacting you via private message. Can you please let us know which policy is being violated by the CTRTheme?
CTRTheme doesn't violate any Adsense policies to have Adsense Account banned by Google. There are many users using the CTRTheme successfully. We have checked the policies of google Adsense usage and have rechecked our compliance to them.

I got a Google slap this week (content not acceptable - fair enough!) so I took AdSense off a whole load of my sites. I replaced it with CPA offers and it's looking very good.

If your site is high quality then you'll get good traffic that will convert well with CPA offers. If your site won't convert CPA offers, then you're also taking a BIG risk with putting AdSense on there.

I'm also an AdWords advertiser (probably what helped save my ass this week) and I gotta say the quality of some of the sites I pay to advertise on isn't as great as I'd hoped.

    Raise your quality game people.

We'll there can be several reasons other the ads placement for you to get banned from adsense. For instance your violating someone's copyrights etc - there could be many other reasons besides that. A lot of people use CTR themes, and if this would be true then Adsense would have banned all other webmasters using CTR Themes.

I myself have been using adsense pro ultimate CTR wordpress theme with great success and have never received any warnings from adsense

    I hope this helps!

My account was banned as well. No reason was given. I suspect it because of blending ad colors.
The CTR theme that is installed on my sites creates the colors to blend the ads with the content. And looks like Google doesn't like this, so they point in their policy,- "publishers participating in the AdSense program may not format ads so that they become indistinguishable from other content on that page."
Could somebody help me- Is it possible to disable this blending function in CTR theme to have original adds color?
      And how to do it?

Yeah my account was banned also. Not sure it was because of the ctr theme but, it was because google is too big.

I'm glad I found this thread. I just recently starting working with adsense. I have quite a few MNS's set up using the CTR theme, I have kinda questioned it form day one because of how good of a job it does at blending the ads into the content.

I think I'm going to switch everything back over to the flex squeeze theme, hopefully that will keep my account in good standing.

      Key word is "yet".

There's a reason the previous owner of CTRtheme offloaded it the exact same week Google released their above the fold update. He's now gone over to the Jedi white knight side.

I've spent the last 59 months building 412 MFA sites. Each site averages 8 cents per day...I said average, some make up to 17 cents per day, PASSIVE INCOME! This income allows me to live comfortably and buy ANY flavor Jolly Rancher or Skittles I desire. Don't give in to fear, it CAN be done!

IMO the biggest issue with CTRtheme is the two large images pushing the content down the page. If people would remove those two images & only run a couple of Ad blocks per page I'm sure they would be ok running the theme.

I've found that usually I'll have 1 or 2 Ads that make up most of the clicks/$$ per page on my own themes, usually the top center of the page & top/left are the hot spots for clicks. Running Ads above the fold is fine, just have to be careful how far we push trying to boost CTRs.

I have CTR theme installed in almost all my niche sites, have never had an issue. I do play around with the theme and change backround colors and have my own custom header banners. One thing I did notice about one of my sites I installed adsense on. I set up 4- adsense ads to put in my CTR theme code area. Well my site was only showing 1 ad ONLY and when I went to go check in the code area where you put the adsense code they were blank! There was only one code out of 3 that was visible in the code area. And when I went into my adsense account I noticed the 3 ads that were not showing where deleted!

Has this happened to anyone else?

Sad to hear that mate, it's good you are facing it with blameless attitude. Now check for other banking ways and you'll do good.

P.S, did you use dropdown images? How many articles did you have on the site?
