Googlebot crawling 24/7 ??

Hi Warriors,

I've just launched a new site last week (roughly 1,100 pages - all of which seemed to be indexed now)... It's been a while since I launched a new site so I'm playing catch up on all this good stuff... I setup Webmaster Tools last week.

Don't know if I should be flattered, but Googlebot is monitoring the site 24/7/ Is this normal or just temporary until it understands the site? I've got 3 entries in my stats every 3 minutes rolling 24/7...

I need to take the site offline for a few mins every 24hrs while I recompile data, but I'm worried it will impact on serps, and with it being a new site I don't want to upset or give the mighty G pause for thought!

Can anyone offer thoughts / suggestions?

    Did you use any pinging services or indexing services? That can cause the bots to go crazy.

    Well, if all you did it let Google know the site was there and they started visiting like crazy then congrats!

    And don't worry about Google suddenly disliking you because you shut down for a few mins to compile data. Their algorithm obviously found something it likes... allot.

    Just keep up the good work, and Google should keep dropping by. it might slow down eventually, but as long as Google keeps coming back, that's the important thing.

      Just concerned because the night before last I ran the data compiler and index dropped way back, today it picked up again... Scared to run the compiler again! lol But I need to...
