Hello everyone,
I am kind of a beginner here and I have a question.

I know how to use google keyword planner to find keywords with high search volume. great.

But since i am looking to use these keywords for SEO, the competition ranking in google's tool will not matter right? because this refers to paid campaigns.

How can I measure the "organic" competition level of a keyword, to know if it is easy to use them and get results?

hope that my question makes sense, and thanks for the help.

a tool that works well is Traffic Travis , and it's free to use.

They give you a list of how many backlinks, and indexed pages you're going up against and give you a indication of the difficulty level from very easy, to very difficult.

Market Samurai also works well too.

Market Samurai and Long Tail Pro are tools you can use to establish the level of competition for a keyword. You can also do it manually using Google and your favorite link research tool (ahrefs, majestic seo, or open site explorer).

To manually analyse the top 10 ranking sites:

    - Search for your site in Google using a proxy in the location where you want your site to rank. E.g. If you want to rank in Google.com, use a US proxy.

    - Plug the top 10 sites/urls into ahrefs one by one to see if they have any authority backlinks with relevant anchor text.

    - Do the sites/urls have your target keyword in their titles as well?
