    Hi,

I believe that Alexa rank is only an indicator. But give people lot of opinions for your website as well. If your alexa rank is less than 100.000, they most probably care about your website.

Pagerank is more vital for SEO, since Google search engines works on based pagerank. You may find the related video on youtube. Matt Cuts explains it very clearly.

Alexa rank is about the number of visitors to your site and Page rank is about the link juice to your site from backlinks. PR is now not regularly updated by google so you need not bother about that. Just concentrate on getting more targetted traffic to your site and getting quality backlinks. Over a period of time you will have both.

Between the two, page rank is definitely "worth" more than Alexa ranking, especially when you are really into SEO or plan to flip the site later on.

What are your main traffic sources? If it comes from search engines, then you would want to look more into how to increase your page rank. If it comes from social media or paid traffic, none of them matters much to you.

Keep in mind that having high alexa and page rank does not guarantee you will get any money from it.

Hey, If you are trying to get good PR so its not so good.. You just focus on PA & DA.

    Otherwise both are having weightage.

Both are useless unless you want to sell your domain name. Focus on what Google Analytics shows, Alexa does not give accurate data.

Okay, think about it from the point of business.

Page Rank (PR) was mainly about search engine optimization and search engines are only one way of traffic.

Page Authority (PA), on the other hand, primarily concerns traffic from ALL sources, and is determined by both organic and inorganic factors.

Alexa Rank is a proxy for the online popularity of your website. Since it can be manipulated, I would suggest you to register yourself at an online analytic service. In that way, you will be able to measure the inflow and outflow in a better way.

A widely held, but deeply mistaken impression.

Alexa rankings have nothing to do with SERP's ranks, and even page ranks have less and less to do with them, these days: not only does Google keep telling us this, but we can also all see it for ourselves, from the ever-increasing regularity with which lower-PR pages are outranking higher-PR pages in Google's SERP's.

You seem to be confusing SERP's rankings with page ranks, there.

Original Post, What is more important, Alexa Ranking or Page Rank?

That is something that as you can see in this thread people have different opinions.

Why PageRank Doesn't Matter - SEW

Over all Alexa is an indicator, it is also something that can help your website perform better in results, over time, ) but really page rank is probably something that has out lived its usefullness, mostly because most PR is based on the ability to spend money in advertising budgets, just look at the top sites and know that for most of us competing with high PR sites with huge advertising budgets is not ever going to produce the results you might hope to see.

Oh, By the WAY, Alexa has made some adjustments concerning its own ranking system, in the past you could game it a little, but now that has changed, you may think that buying traffic to bombard your alexa site produces results, but over all its filtered and in the end is not a progressive indicator.

Focus on content and frequency of updates and everything else will fall into place.

You perfect one and the other falls in place is how I see it.

If you focus on bettering your PR, you will rank better and that in turn is going to pull in more visitors to your site and ultimately increase your page rank.

If you get your page to rank on the first page in Google for a very competitive keyword, then that really beats the Alexa rankings that you have or want to get to.

Try to get your site to rank on the first or 2nd page of Google.

I think page rank is by far more important than Alexa rank. With a PR9 you will get more visitors from Search engines. So Page rank is important!

Alexa rank is irrelevant. What exactly would it be important for?

PageRank is VERY important. Ignore anyone saying otherwise. PageRank is one of Google's ranking factors. Whether or not one considers it to have lost some weight over the years is immaterial.

Example: all other things being equal between two pages, one receiving more PageRank will rank higher in Google's search listings. That is money in your pocket.

One having more traffic recorded by Alexa simply means Alexa recorded more traffic. No different than recording more traffic in Google Webmaster Tools or AWstats in your cpanel.

Think of it this way. Alexa is like the weather page reporting temperatures yesterday. It was hotter in Los Angeles than Moscow. PageRank is a ranking factor and it could cause Moscow to be hotter than Los Angeles tomorrow.

I know that page ranks determines SERP in a certain way. While alexa does nothing. However, page rank is losing it's effectiveness now.

PR is the most important. I create and sell websites, a high PR value on a website is worth money on the open market.

Both are different terms. Alexa provides you a rough estimated traffic of your site. While Pagerank is a quality based ranking feature by Google, Which will show your site trust and credibility on Internet.

The alexa rank calculations are way off as well though. You can have a site with high alexa rank and low traffic and a low alexa rank with high traffic.

It just doesn't, though - it only pretends to.

It's all random, because all it can measure is traffic comprising "visits to the site by people with the Alexa toolbar installed and running in their browsers" and those people are all internet marketers.

And it doesn't even measure those accurately or reliably at all.

      It's fictional ... it's explained here: http://www.warriorforum.com/main-int...ml#post9331773

How true! - So many people are conned in to believing the PR and Alexa myth. Don't focus on these things but concentrate on adding more good content and Don't be afraid of paying occasionally for some traffic - it works and I know paid traffic can complement SEO (which is still important however!)

Page rank, in particular, I think.

Some people are kind of "brought up" to believe that PR is "really important".

The reality is that Google has said publicly (as has been confirmed by Matt Cutts in various interviews - I've even posted links to some of them, in other threads here) that ceasing to publish all page rank information remains a long-term objective for them. And of course we can all see for ourselves, from the ever-increasing regularity with which lower-PR pages are outranking higher-PR pages in Google's SERP's, how it's becoming even less significant all the time.

Alexa rank is an indicator of website traffic only, while page rank is an indicator of website search engine optimization and link profile. If I have to choose I would count more on page rank as Alexa rank has been and still can be manipulated. But both together can give a better insight about a website.

The last thing you want to do is try to improve page rank or alexa rank (well maybe not page rank). Its pointless and over time if your site is indeed getting traffic and receiving genuine shares then they will both improve other time.

Concentrating on these factors for a successful site is a waste of your time though.

But if you want to improve them then alexa improves with the more traffic you receive from people that have the alexa button added to their browser and your page rank will improve with the quality and quantity of the backlinks your site receives.

So to answer your question I would have to say page rank is more important if its achieved genuinely through white hat seo.

    Neither.

The most important thing for your site (apart from traffic) is high quality inbound links from trusted and related websites.
Get those and Auntie G will love you, and send you some traffic as well.
