Can you explain this weird Google behavior?

Suppose my keyword is "good laptop" I have written a blog post with the keyword, but my site doesn't get rank even in the 5th or 10th pages of Google SERP.

Then I make a PowerPoint presentation with the same keyword "good laptop" and upload it to slideshare, and it gets ranked in the 5th page of SERP!

Can you explain why this happens? And how to solve it as I want to rank my website not any slideshare post.

Slide share is an authority site so the articles get ranked pretty fast. Its quite obvious.

Go to Alexa.com enter Upload, Share, and Discover Content on SlideShare it is ranked position 130 in the world

Now take your URL and do the same -what position are you ...?

Slideshare is a powerhouse online and has massive authority , i would hazard a guess that your blog has a long way to go to catch up

I made several sales just by posting articles in Slideshare. As others said it, it is an authority site that easily outranks others. Now they are becoming tough on affiliates. They even close accts and I almost stopped using them. I use another instead.

I agree, using Slideshare is a great way to boost your SERP. However, I feel it goes against exactly what Google claim they are trying to achieve. They want to get the best content in front of peoples eyes first. Just because someone uses an authority site to post their content doesn't mean that content is high quality or of any use to the searcher.

I know this is a slightly different view of the question, but I think it shows Google have got an awful long way to go before they adopt an effective strategy for listing the BEST content, not just the content with the biggest mouthpiece

Ranking in Google isn't a easy task. You have to work hard, Just Playing with Keywords is not the all the thing to get ranking.

Well you got a ranking because you are posting on site which have authority and have good SERPs in Google and they work hard to maintain the standard that's why you got good ranking on their website.

Slideshare is junk & Google has known about the spamfest for a long time. The screenshot below is from Google & over a year old (2013).

  Yes, it was loved as a site for parasite pages a year or two back, now i don't see it anymore. Facebook and tumblr are in these days at least in my niche.

Slideshare already has authority in Google and your site doesn't, or your site has less authority, so it's natural to see the Slideshare page outranking your site.
