What's the deal with Bing?

I've had one particular website for years, in fact since I've had it since 2008 and I receive decent traffic from Google and others but Bing just doesn't add up. I started a small local website just last year and it gets more traffic from Bing then my much longer establish website.

So what is it that Bing likes and what is it that it doesn't like in general terms.

    Bing is widely used more in United States. It is more popular also. Social Media sites like will be embeded in Bing. Even Facebook is using Bing search and knowledge graph.

      Perhaps that's the problem I don't get to involved in social media. I do like warrior forum and reddit but that's about the extent of it. The funny thing is like I mentioned the small local site is doing fine, in fact, better with bing but still not much social media.

    Maybe the target keyword of your old site doesn't get a lot of searches in Bing while the newer site's target keyword gets more searches. That could be the reason. The ranking factors are similar in each search engine.

    Well, Bing uses search engine algorithms from Google, so it would be normal that your ranking would be different on both of the search engines.

    we love bing, you will be surprised that BING is really getting it act together, its better in terms of google in strictness, and all that, but the traffic is still targeted, like google, but there is less volume. But depending on the niche you can test, and their support is 1000000 times better than google which is not hard, google is just thumbs down in that dept. :-)

    you will find that with local stuff, bing picks up and puts you in many dances before you settle, but bing is still good for this, if you do your SEO properly. You are better off doing PPC ads too, as this can actually help with you SEO too. :-)
