Recently Google seems to refuse to list my homepage

Lately when using search terms to find my site it seems like Google only lists secondary pages in the results such as my terms page and other various pages even though they have a canonical tag for my homepage but never the main page which is the only one I'd want to appear in results.

What could be causing this?

The website is Auction Sniper - Web Based & Software eBay Auction Auto Bidder

Does anyone know why Google seems to refuse to return the main page and only lists "secondary" pages like the terms of use page?

Thanks

You best bet is to check your backlinks and see it they look unnatural.
Remove backlinks that are very spammy or keyword focused.

If you can not remove the links you can clean up your backlink profile via Google Disavow in Webmaster Tools.

I heard if you use the disavow in GWM that it may raise a red flag to Google.

If you are not penalized or have manual actions is it ok to use disavow to get rid of some Spam links?

That's probably because you are optimising your homepage and internal pages for the same or similar keywords and Google likes the internal pages better, probably because they have better links.

It sounds like your website has been penalized which is the case when your main page is lowered in ranking, you need to check for duplicated content, or any low quality links and eradicate them and then be patient, if this does not solve, try and submit a reconsideration request only after you have done everything to meet Webmaster Guidelines: https://support.google.com/webmaster...er/35769?hl=en

How do I find low quality links and remove them?

Last year I had paid someone $500/month for about 6 months to do external SEO on my site and it did get my site from about page 20 to page 5 or 6 but it never got better, and now my site seems impossible to find other than searching for its exact name.

    Thanks

Any idea how to identify and resolve the problem? It seems that the only search that finds my home page is a search for "auction auto bidder" and even then it does not show the actual title of the web page, it shows "Auction Auto Bidder" as the page title, why would it be showing a different page title?

    Thanks

There's no penalty, matter of fact your index page is ranked #1 for the root keyword (auction auto bidder). The same index page has a Google cache.

When an internal page out ranks an index page for a keyword it's because the internal page has more authority for that particular keyword. If you want a different page ranked for a keyword, fix it, make the other page rank.

If you start disavowing links just because you can like being suggested in this forum thread, your basically screwing up your site/links for no reason. Internal pages outranking an index page is not a penalty.
