Does Google Still Hate My Sites? How Can I Tell?

I've been out of the SEO game for about 18 months now. Got hit by google across the board and all my top rankings were lost across 10 different sites.

Lost a $10k per month business essentially overnight (using the tools of the trade back then; BMR, guest blog networks, link networks, etc). Sob stories aside..... I have an imporant question about getting back into the game.

Is there any way to tell if my old websites (domain ages of 8+) are "disliked" by google and are no longer worth rebuilding?

I want to attempt rebuilding... but no sense in rebuilding on a broken foundation, right?

Is there any way to confirm if those sites are permanently in the crapper and I should just forget about them and move on?

I'd like to think that enough time has passed for them to be revived.... but I honestly don't know how google views sites which they crapped on and threw down to the dregs of search engine results.

Any insight into this would be helpful. Thank you

-Sean

If you've ever had BMR links pointing at the site the domain is most likely toast well over a year ago when BMR got their Google smack down.

Try ranking one of the old domain/pages for an easy same niche keyword to see what happens. Also, check the backlink profile.

Thanks Yukon. I will try that on a easy niche keyword and see what happens.

I read that manual penalties do expire. Don't know about algorithmic penalties. If the penalties are manual, they have probably expired.
