New to this, is this a good idea for getting good SEO results?

I am new to all this so thanks for all the informative posts on here, I have learned quite a bit. Anyways, I am narrowing down my new internet marketing campaign to several ideas.

Question = when looking for a niche and SEO, does it help if you target a certain market? Lets say I live in Phoenix, Arizona. If I do a niche website / blog for phoenix employers, will that help the SEO by being specific? For example, doing a blog on all the Phoenix area furniture companies, and in the blog I rate them depending on how they pay and treat their employees and their business performance. Would this work:? (Since I am focusing on the Phoenix area alone, and their are no other blogs of this type in Phoenix)?

Also, would I then be well advised to make a page to upload my ebay affiliate links on furniture being sold on ebay and / or get an ad that sells furniture?

That is where I am at. Sorry if this is not the right forum.

Thanks

That would be a good idea I guess if you want to rank for Phoenix furniture.

If you want to rank for Phoenix Jobs I wouldn't go through all the effort of reviewing each company and just provide regional news about work like company x fired 300 people and company y is expanding.

Targetting a specific niche will reduce the number of competing sites for your target keyword and your site will therefore rank faster.

As for monetization, do it the way you want. There is nothing wrong with adding affiliate links to the site.

Actually this would be the best way to start, by targeting a niche as the competition is low and the chance you dominate the market is high.

    I say go for it.

No no…Don’t write about furniture because you want to receive SEO jobs from Furniture companies in Phoenix. That’s a bad idea.

For me, I’ll just do my own thing. Maybe become an authority on the topic without caring much about where my visitors are coming from.

After your website has become established, you should then start approaching businesses in this area offline. Go meet them and tell them what you do and how you can rank their website on top of Google and other search engines.

The contents published on your site should demonstrate you truly know what you’re talking about.

But you’re publishing about carpentry stuffs, and now you’re telling me you can rank my Electronic business on Google?

    That’s a straightforward NO!

There's probably no other similar blogs because it looks like an easy target for a slander lawsuit from the business ranked at the bottom of the list.

Yeah. Makes no sense. How on earth could you possibly rate all furniture companies,
wages, etc. , unless you were a huge and/or government research agency?

Where do you people come up with these crazy ideas?

thanks everybody. what I gave was just an example, I am actually targeting a different industry in a different city. The main thing that sticks out to me is what Yukon said about being a target for law suits. That is very good advise. Maybe I can just focus on the good ones in my target sector, and as they say if you can't say something good say nothing at all.

Of course it will helps. You must be very specific if you want to rank in specific niche.
