How to achieve backlinks

Hey,

I am still trying to get my head around achieving backlinks, all help is appreciated.

What is a good way of achieving simple backlinks to get a site ranked? So the first tier backlinks? A lot of people say article submission, blog posts, directory submissions etc. - which is good.

But when I submit to a directory - it takes like 3 months to get approved? I will be doing everything free. I am an SEO apprentice so I need to learn this stuff, all the help is appreciated.

What is a good way of building backlinks? First tier, and when people say second tier, what happens if the first tier is removed? It's a big process which I am not even in control of by the sounds of it.

Also; do I need to make good blog posts? Or can I just contribute a little and leave a link.

Thanks.

My best suggestion is don't try to "achieve backlinks" - think instead of how you can create content and add value in the niche you are targeting. If you create good content that people in your niche are interested in, they will link to it creating your backlinks for you. Interesting posts in social media, on a blog, articles submitted to article sites or as guest blogs are far more effective imo than just trying to get a ton of backlinks.

Especially with google giving more emphasis on content, you can never go wrong building it over backlinks.

Stupid advice... Regardless of how good your content is, you won't rank for jack if you don't have links. If you don't rank, you don't get the traffic (unless you advertise), if you don't get the traffic, no ones going to see your content.

I agree with you that just building great content is not enough. There is a notion that if you create this amazing content people will magically just start coming to your site. You still have plenty of work to do once you create the content.

You then need to promote the content, use twitter, facebook, forum signatures...anything to get the content in front of people interested in your niche. Once you get traffic to your site you need to encourage them to share. This helps make your promoting that much easier. Make sure each post has share buttons on it. At the end of your post suggest people to comment or share the article.

I didn't say you shouldn't create links to the content you create. If you re-read my post, I said to use social media, blog posts, articles, etc to generate links to it.

But creating backlinks without good content to link to is a waste of time as without the quality content, people will bounce right off your site after they follow the link. I see so many people think they if they just create a ton of backlinks they will get sales, but if you don't have something people want when they follow those links or see you in search engines, you are just wasting your time.

Yes, we should pay more attention to creating good quality contents for our websites but we shouldn't ignore creating back links. Not everybody can create attractive contents, it is a time-consuming and difficult job to do that. So to get higher ranks, creating backlinks is also necessary like forum posting, social bookmarking and exchanging back links. I don't like using directory submission, most of them will ignore your submissions, so don't waste your time doing that.

If the content is of value, helpful, but no one can see it or reach it, then there is no value at all of the content! Nor for the website owner, or the visitors who do not exist and can reach the content!

Quality directories, blogs, social sites are not free, and if you want your website to rank well, then you need to build back links only from quality sites and avoid spammy and low quality websites which will harm your ranking. You can also post on forums, video creation and promotion of video sites.

Also, make sure websites you build back links are related to your website topic, use multiple variation of keywords and descriptions, but do not exaggerate.

Finally SEO without advertising and without a budget will not be effective.

The best links to your web site are those coming back from real websites, with sensible content and much of social media shares. You can either earn these backlinks, or build them yourself. As long as they are available from the authority websites in your niche, they have nice SEO value.

It is better to write niche articles with attractive and useful subjects. The other posters will give some back links. It will automatically get links. It is better to share your site in social networking sites. It is great tool get back links.

Forget about article directories and use web 2.0 sites instead. With web 2.0 sites, you can submit your article and it will go live within a few minutes after clicking the publish button. Then build automated links to your web 2.0 articles to boost the amount of link juice your site receives from them.

You can't remove the first tier. The first tier contains the high quality web 2.0s, document submission links, and video links while the second tier contains fairly good links. The third tier consists mainly of spammy links.

You have to write good posts so your backlinks will look more natural and last longer (if you don't own the site on which it's placed).

Share-able quality content, will always be a link building winner, quality content attracts natural back links.

Social media is a great source to start spreading your content and gaining back links.

Other methods include press releases, article writing, blog posting, directory submissions & social bookmarking.
Learning about tiers and how to control them is important, but again your tier 1’s may that be web 2.0 or article submissions etc, rely on quality content.

All of these, are heavily dependent on quality content, content that people find interesting, want to read and share.
There’s no doubt about it content is king and back links are vital.

Do all off page activities like bookmarking, directory, article, forums posting, comment posting, profile creation and social media updates, but remember always don't try to do over optimization and low and poor quality links. Try to build only high quality links with high domain authority websites, then swiftly you can get your aim.

Before generate quality back links, look at your content. After all content is a king in SEO. Content not only attracts users but SE also. SE always fine something new in web page for index. So focus on quality content.
Follow SE submission guide line while you generate back links from quality submission sites or blogs. Submission only on high PR, relevant and reputed sites only for back link purpose.

Okay I know this sounds crazy but have you ever thought about sending out links to some authority pages? What I mean by that is that you possibly curate some content on the bottom or possible sprinkled thoughout the article.

This gives GOOD outbound links to your specific keyword. You are also showing that you are willing to pass on some linkjuice of your own.

Just take a look at Yahoo for example. Huffington Post, Mashable. They are provide useful content but also provide outbound links to authoritative sites ie (Videos, Wikis, Edu sites, Social Media, etc)

Make sure your content is amazing and includes all of your LSI words (2-4%) and don't keyword stuff. Provide internal links to other pages mixing up your keywords (ie good keyword page 2 -> best keyword link -> page 4 and homepage). Put a video on your page as well and link properly.

Align yourself with the authority websites and provide good outbound links. Hopefully you are including images and videos with your content as well.

    Good Luck!!

Best way is to let others do it for you because your site is compelling enough that they frequent it and want to share it with their friends. That is how google wants and expects backlinks to be built. Any other way is just gaming the system, which may come back to haunt you in the future.

If you find you are spending more time trying to get your site ranked via building backlinks, you are focused on the wrong thing. To get started though, use adwords to drive traffic to your site the first few months and if your site is good enough, your visitors will do the work for you.

Not sure people are looking for the google way of doing things though.

Best advice...Create internal linking for one page to other page, this is the simple form of gaining BL from your own site. If you have quality content then start creating internal linking between pages, Don't use too many internal linking from single page (restrict to one or two links from page)

There are many ways to get quality backlinks like submitting articles or creating your own web 2.0 sites, blog commenting, forum posting and so on. However too many links from a single domain won't be countable and become less effective. Rather i wold suggest to do some backlinks analysis of few of your competitors. this way you can find out the sources from where they are getting backlinks and try to achieve links from those sources. you can use free backlink check tools to get details.

I agree with everyone else. For me, the #1 thing you should keep in mind in creating or building backlinks is to think like a promoter. Analyze who your target audience are, where they are online and how you can reach out to them without sounding like a typical advertiser. So where are they? They are on social media, on blogs, forums and other informative websites. That's where you should build links in.
